Synthesis and Microbiological Stability of Graft Copolymers of N-Vinylpyrrolidone and Chitosan

L. A. Nud'ga; V. A. Petrova; N. V. Klishevich; L. S. Litvinova; A. Yu. Babenko; V. N. Shelegedin

The kinetics of homogeneous graft polymerization of N-vinylpyrrolidone on chitosan, initiated by ammonium peroxodisulfate, was studied in relation to the reactant concentrations. The reaction orders with respect to the monomer, initiator, and matrix polymer were determined. The compositional nonuniformity and microbiological stability of the copolymer were evaluated.

Composite Fibers Based on Chitin and Cellulose

G. M. Mikhailov; M. F. Lebedeva; L. A. Nud'ga; V. A. Petrova

Composite fibers were produced by mixing of chitin and cellulose solutions with subsequent molding from these solutions under standard conditions. The effect of composition of systems on the structural modification and the deformation-strength characteristics of the fibers was studied.

Comparative Study of Reactivity of Cellulose, Chitosan, and Chitin-Glucan Complex in Sulfoethylation

L. A. Nud'ga; V. A. Petrova; A. D. Ben'kovich; G. A. Petropavlovskii

Sulfoethylation of the chitin-glucan complex, isolated from mycelium of the mold fungus Aspergillus niger, by substitution with sodium β-chloroethylsulfonate or addition of sodium vinylsulfonate is examined. A comparative study is made of the reactivity of the chitin-glucan complex, chitosan, and cellulose in the both reactions. The sorption characteristics of the sulfoethylated products with respect to Cu(II) and Cr(III) are determined.

Dehydration of Organic Solvents by Evaporation through Membranes Based on Polyelectrolytic Complexes

Yu. P. Kuznetsov; E. V. Kruchinina; L. A. Nud'ga; V. A. Petrova; A. M. Bochek; G. V. Shishkina; N. A. Matveeva

Evaporation of binary aqueous-organic mixtures through composite membranes with coatings based on polyelectrolytic complexes including different combinations of polyelectrolytic polycations and polyanions was studied. The possibility of efficient dehydration of organic solvents by their pervaporation was demonstrated.

Hydrolysis of Chitin-Glucan Complex of Aspergillus niger Fungus with Phosphoric Acid

L. A. Nud'ga; V. A. Petrova; E. E. Kever; T. V. Makarova

The kinetic parameters of hydrolysis of chitin-glucan complex of Aspergillus niger fungus with 85% phosphoric acid were studied at three temperatures. The activation energies of hydrolysis of chitin and glucan components of the complex were determined.

Carbonization of Polyacrylonitrile Composites with Nitrogen-containing Cellulose Derivatives

Yu. N. Sazanov; L. A. Nud'ga; A. V. Novoselova; V. L. Ugolkov; G. N. Fedorova; E. M. Kulikova; A. V. Gribanov

Thermal carbonization of nitrogen-containing cellulose derivatives (chitin, chitosan, cyanoethyl chitosan, cyanoethyl cellulose, copolymers of allyl carboxymethyl cellulose with polyacrylonitrile) as models of probable products of thermal reaction of cellulose with polyacrylonitrile was studied. The quantitative characteristics of carbonization of the model compounds are influenced by the nitrile group.

Dynamics of Propyl Chitosan Solutions in Longitudinal and Shear Modes

Z. F. Zoolshoev; I. A. Strelina; V. A. Petrova; L. A. Nud'ga

Low-substituted chitosan was synthesized from shrimp chitin. The effect of the ionic strength on the dynamics of acetic acid solutions of propyl chitosan in longitudinal and shear modes was studied. The dynamic characteristics of these solutions under the action of hydrodynamic fields were estimated.

Structure of Aqueous Methyl and Propyl Methyl Cellulose Solutions in the Initial Stage of Gelation

N. A. Kalinina; A. M. Bochek; I. G. Silinskaya; L. A. Nud'ga; V. A. Petrova

Evolution of the supramolecular associate structure of moderately concentrated aqueous methyl and propyl methyl cellulose solutions, as dependent on the degree of substitution by propyl groups, is studied by the polarized light scattering using the Debye-Bueche-Stein theory.

G. A. Petropavlovskii; G. A. Pazukhina; I. V. Ovchinnikov; V. A. Petrova; L. A. Nud'ga

The fruit body composition of the cultivated wood rotting fungi Phanerochaete sanguinea 16-65, Ganoderma applanatum 4-94, and Ganoderma applanatum 40-90 and their sorption characteristics with respect to Cr(III) and Methylene Blue are studied.

Composite Fibers Based on Chitin

G. M. Mikhailov; M. F. Lebedeva; L. A. Nud'ga; V. A. Petrova; Yu. G. Baklagina

Composite fibers containing chitin and cellulose ethers (methyl, hydroxyethyl, and hydroxypropyl cellulose) and also chitin and polyvinylpyrrolidone were prepared. The effect of the ratio of system components and also the molecular weight of polyvinylpyrrolidone on the deformation-strength characteristics of the composite fibers and their supramolecular organization was studied.
