Current algebras and magnetic moments

Abstract The problem of baryon magnetic moments in current algebra is considered in a model employing local commutation rules and in an alternative model using only commutation rules of charges.

A Regge model for production of axial vector mesons in pion-nucleon collisions

SummaryThe reactions pseudoscalar+nucleon→axial+nucleon and pseudoscalar+nucleon→axial+3/2+-resonance, are discussed. The general Regge-pole formalism is first developed in detail. It is subsequently specialized in the following steps: i) production near the forward direction, ii) validity ofSU3 (with breakings for meson mixings); iii) validity of exchange degeneracy. Two nonets of produced axial mesons are considered: theA-nonet (JPC=1++) and theB-nonet (JPC=1+−) and the effects of the possibleA-B mixings are examined. The most specific model, assumingSU3 and exchange degeneracy, gives rise to a large number of restrictions (mostly inequalities) among cross-sections which should be testable. The value ofD/F for the couplings of theR-trajectories to nucleons is a relevant unknown parameter; we calculate its value in the kinetic supermultiplet model for a possible indication. The problem of KA-KB interference is discussed and the implied shape of the K* mass spectra is examined.RiassuntoSi discutono le reazioni mesone pseudoscalare+nucleone→mesone assiale+nucleone, e mesone pseudoscalare+nucleone→mesone assiale+risonanza 3/2+. Viene dapprima sviluppato in dettaglio un formalismo generale di espansione alla Regge. Tale formalismo viene poi specializzato nei seguenti stadi: 1) produzione vicino all’avanti; 2) validità diSU3 (a parte rotture dovute a mescolamenti nelle funzioni d’onda dei mesoni); 3) validità della degenerazione per scambio. I mesoni assiali prodotti si suppone appartengono a due nonetti diversi: il notettoA (conJPC=1++) ed il nonettoB (conJPC=1+−); mescolamenti tra i due nonetti possono avere luogo per i mesoni con stranezza e si considerano gli effetti prodotti da tali mescolamenti. Il modello più specifico che viene qui considerato, dove si assumonoSU3 e degenerazione di scambio, dà luogo ad un grande numero di restrizioni (soprattutto disuguaglianze) tra sezioni d’urto. Un importante parametro è ilD/F per l’accoppiamento delle traiettoricR (mesoni tensoriali) ai nucleoni; si calcola il valore di questo parametro nel modello dei multipletti cinetici per ottenere una possibile indicazione in proposito. Si discute il problema della interferenzaKA-KB e la forma che ne segue per lo spettro di massa del K*.РезюмеОбсуждаются реакции: псевдоскалярная частица+нуклон→аксиальная частица+нуклон и псебдоскалярная частица+нуклон→аксиальная частица+ +резонанц 3/2+. Сначала подробно развивается общий формализм полюсов Редже. Впоследствии этот формализм приспосабливается для следуюжего: i) рождение вблизи направления вперед; ii) справедливостьSU3 (с нарушениями для смешивания мезонов); iii) справедливость обменного вырождения. Рассматриваются нонеты рожденных аксиальных мезонов:A-нонет (JPC=1++) иB-нонет (JPC=1+−); и исследуются эффекты возможныхA-B смешиваний. Наиболее характерная модель, предполагаяSU3 и обменное вырождение, дает возникновение большого числа ограничений (главным образом, неравенства) между поперечными сечениями, которые должны быть проверены. ВеличинаD/F для связейR-траекторий с нуклонами представляет неизвестный параметр; мы вычисляем эту величину в кинетической супермультиплетной модели для возможного указания.
