Abstract A method is described for determining the absolute differential cross sections for reactions using a multi-angle magnetic analyser. The energy spectra and angular distributions of protons from the (d, p) reactions on the targets of enriched Cr50, 52, 53, 54 and Fe54, 55, 57 are studied. Altogether 153 levels of final nuclei are studied, including 48 new ones. The l and Θ2 values are obtained for 93 levels, including 58 new ones. A well-pronounced dependence of the cross sections for the (d, p) reaction on the parameter of the target nucleus symmetry is established. The occupation numbers of the neutron 2p subshell are found from the treatment of the experimental data using the sum rule and the results are compared with other data concerning the the (d, t) reaction. The isobaric spin constant of the nuclear optical potential is estimated by the shift of single-particle neutron levels after the addition of two neutrons.

Abstract Using a new method of data processing in the investigation of interference correlations of identical particles, a direct proof of nonstationarity of the π − production volume in central MgMg collisions at a beam momentum of p Iab = 4.4 GeV/c per nucleon was obtained. The velocity of a source of correlated π − meson pairs is introduced as a free parameter in the Lorentz transformed approximation formula of the interference peak. This velocity increases with increasing the velocity of a subset of π − mesons which are chosen for the interference analysis. The source velocity is the new experimentally measurable physical variable of interference analysis, apart from space-time sizes of the source.

Abstract The 58,62,64 Ni(d, p) stripping reactions have been studied up to a high excitation energy at an incident deuteron energy of E d = 2.9MeV. The spectroscopic factors (2 J +1) S for some excited states differ from those measured at an incident deuteron energy above the Coulomb barrier. For high excited states these anomalies can be explained by the wrong assignment of l n in previous investigations. For low-lying levels of the residual nuclei, the proton energy exceeds the Coulomb barrier and the anomalies observed are apparently due to multistep stripping.

Abstract The charge exchange reaction (t, 3 He) on carbon and magnesium targets is investigated in experiments using a streamer chamber. The experimental pion longitudinal momentum spectrum is compared with the calculated one for events with a single secondary pion. From this comparison it follows that the contribution from quasi-free Δ − excitation in the target nucleus in a single pion channel is only 60–70%. The momentum of the pions in the remaining fraction of events is significantly higher than that of the pions produced in delta de-excitation. The contribution from several possible processes is analyzed. The data indicate a significant role of coherent pion production via N(1440) or/and N(1520) in the target nucleus while part of the pion spectrum can be explained by projectile excitation.
