Eczema de contacto agudo a parafenilendiamina contenida en tatuajes transitorios con henna

Henna is a plant with coloring properties which is used as a dye for hair and skin, on occasion mixed with other substances. Paraphenylendiamine (PPD) is one of the additives used to accelerate drying, improve definition and darken its reddish color. There are several descriptions in literature of sensitization to the PPD contained in henna. We describe 3 new cases of allergic contact dermatitis to temporary tattoos, with skin tests positive for PPD in 2 of them. The lesions resolved in one of the patients, leaving persistent hypopigmentation. It is important for the population to be aware of this circumstance and the risk entailed by sensitization to PPD.

Úlceras vulvares agudas de Lipschütz

Resumen —Dos ninas virgenes de 14 y 12 anos, previamente sanas, consultaron por ulceras dolorosas genitales agudas que aparecieron en el contexto de un proceso febril. Las exploraciones complementarias descartaron tanto una enfermedad venerea como el resto de causas habituales de ulceraciones genitales. En ambos casos, las lesiones se resolvieron en menos de 2 semanas tras la administracion de antibioticoterapia oral y topica, sin secuelas ni recidivas posteriores.

Congenital agminated nevi on the trunk.

A 31-year-old woman was referred with numerous pigmented lesions on her right subscapular area that had been present since birth. Five years ago, during pregnancy, the lesions increased in number although there was no evidence of new changes in the past few months. The patient had no family history of any genetic disorder. On physical examination there was an aggregation of numerous well-defined macules and slightly elevated pigmented lesions, not covered with terminal hairs, in an agminated configuration, showing a zosteriform distribution that extended from the axillary central line to the backbone in an analogous region to the thoracic dermatomal segments D3 to D6. The band measured approximately 20 cm in length and 15 cm in width on the flank, and 5 cm in the spinal column area. Each individual lesion measured 0.2–0.5 cm in diameter and they were not superimposed on a tan-brown background (Fig. 1). Histologically, a well-circumscribed, band-like dermal melanocytic proliferation with a congenital nevus pattern (Fig. 2) was found. A polypoid growth of melanocytic nests within the lymphatic vessels could be found. No lentiginous melanocytic hyperplasia was present in the adjacent epidermis.

Eccrine squamous syringometaplasia mimicking a herpetic infection

A 69‐year‐old woman with a history of hypertension and essential tremor was diagnosed with a Burkitt‐like diffuse large‐cell lymphoma. She received chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide, vincristine and adriamycin (HyperCVAD). Ten days after starting the second cycle of chemotherapy (HyperCVAD), she presented with well‐defined, intense, erythematous macules which coalesced to form a symmetric diffuse erythema located on the upper back. Later, the lesions progressed and affected the lower back and perineal areas, extending to the groin. In a few days, a gradual diminution of the erythema was seen, with subsequent development of postinflammatory gray‐brownish hyperpigmentation. On the lower back, there were also superficial erosions. Some asymptomatic, closely grouped, gray papules, vesicles, and blisters were found in the groin, resembling the typical lesions of herpetic infection ( Fig. 1 ). Two biopsies of the groin and one of the upper back were performed, and were processed for histopathologic and microbiologic study.

Lupus eritematoso cutáneo subagudo inducido por fármacos

Resumen —Una mujer de 46 anos, sin antecedentes de enfermedades autoinmunes, desarrollo una erupcion cutanea clinica e histologicamente indicativa de un lupus eritematoso cutaneo subagudo. El exantema coincidio con la administracion reciente de tetrazepam, aunque tambien tomaba de forma prolongada anticonceptivos orales. Los estudios de autoinmunidad mostraron una elevacion de anticuerpos antinucleares, antihistonas y anti-Ro. La retirada de la medicacion se acompano de una rapida mejoria clinica y de los parametros de laboratorio, sin que presentara otros brotes con posterioridad, lo que permitio el diagnostico de lupus eritematoso cutaneo subagudo inducido por farmacos.

Eritema anular centrífugo e hipotiroidismo

Resumen —Una mujer de 54 anos consulto por unas lesiones eritematosas con descamacion en el borde, localizadas en la cara externa de ambas piernas, indicativas de eritema anular centrifugo. Las exploraciones complementarias evidenciaron un hipotiroidismo subclinico que mejoro, al igual que las lesiones cutaneas, con levotiroxina. Posteriormente, un desajuste en el tratamiento propicio la reaparicion de un hipotiroidismo clinico en esta ocasion y dos nuevos brotes de eritema anular centrifugo.
