Diagnóstico das vagas de carga e descarga para a distribuição urbana de mercadorias: um estudo de caso em Belo Horizonte

Currently, one of the main problems related to the freight delivery is the lack of adequate infrastructure for operations in urban areas. In this sense, this paper presents a methodology for diagnosis the urban distribution through a structure of variables related to city logistics. To elaborate the diagnosis, we used interviews with logistics operators, research of rotating places of loading and unloading and traffic count of the study area. The methodology was applied to the central area of Belo Horizonte (MG), and among the results highlight that the loading and unloading place regulated by public authorities on urban roads are occupied mostly by private vehicles. Thus, it is concluded to be necessary parking management solutions, horizontal and vertical signal, further to intensive monitoring to reduce the infraction observed and use rationally the places for the improvement of freight distribution on urban roads. Still the structure of variables related to city logistics consists in methodological contribution of this paper.

Análise do potencial de integração da bicicleta com o transporte coletivo em Belo Horizonte

Bicycle as a sustainable transportation mode has gained importance as it contributes to reduce the number of motorized vehicles in the cities. In order to this occur, among the factors that need to be encouraged is the integration of cycling with public transportation. This paper presents the results of the analysis of the potential of cycling integration with the metropolitan train and the comparative analysis of the results in different Brazilian capitals. The methodology involved a socioeconomic survey and stated preference to identify the relevant attributes to the occurrence of integration, among users at Vilarinho station in Belo Horizonte. Results indicated the users profile prone to the integration and, distance from origin to the station and the fact of not having a bicycle as reasons for the lack of interest in integration. Interviewees stated that public security and cycling infrastructure are important factors for integration. Moreover, there is not a convergence of the percentage of adherence for integration in the examined cities, and local studies are necessary to evaluate the integration feasibility.

An estimation of freight flow using secondary data: a case study in Belo Horizonte (Brazil)

This paper presents a methodology to estimate freight flows using secondary data. Problems associated with urban freight are of increasing concern to both public and private institutions. Low efficiency due to traffic congestion, lack of policies and restricted information for decision-making are common in the Brazilian context. Thus, this paper aims at describing a simple, but effective methodological approach for data processing in order to support decision-making in the context of urban freight in Brazil. The proposal consists of gathering common available data in the country as well as Minas Gerais State and applying the method in a study area defined according to a set of different parameters. The results achieved for the Belo Horizonte central region indicate the effectiveness of the methodology as well as the need for a systematic data collection in order to improve future results.
