Objective: to evaluate the contribution of educational technology on pressure injury regarding assistance quality indicators. Methods: a quasi-experimental study, with the design before and after the educational intervention, related to an online course on pressure injury. Data collection was done in three phases: the gathering of pressure injury indicators; implementation of the educational intervention; and post-intervention evaluation of the patients. Results: 47 patients were evaluated in each phase. The risk assessment and the description of the skin in the admission presented higher figures after the educational intervention. Description of preventive measures was higher in the educational post-intervention group, which presented a high-level index in the pre-intervention group (80.9%). The number of patients with pressure injury decreased from 53.2% to 42.6% (p=0.500). Conclusion: the impact of the communication and information technology was observed, especially on the decrease of occurrence of injuries. INTRODUCTION: The kangaroo-mother care method is an approach adopted in Brazil as a public police, which has helped in the reduction of neonatal mortality rate. Premature birth and its vulnerabilities can trigger, especially in mothers, feelings of fear and insecurity related to taking care of newborns. OBJECTIVE: Investigate care continuity of preterm newborns from a kangaroo-mother care method unit in primary health care facilities. METHODS: It was a transversal study performed with 43 mothers of preterm newborns who were hospitalized in the rooming-in care unit of a kangaroo-mother care method unit of a Brazilian public maternity school. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire, which was used to interview mothers between September 2015 and February 2016. RESULTS: It was found a relationship between sociodemographic status and risk of premature birth, and the following variables: age, education, marital status, and family income. Regarding findings from the follow-up home visits in primary health care, most of the participants were still breastfeeding and using the kangaroo position. However, 60.5% of the interviewed mothers reported not receiving home visits from health professionals of primary health care facilities. CONCLUSION: It is essential the support of health professionals and the participation of mothers and families to improve, through health education, quality of life promotion for newborns from kangaroo care approach.

Objective: evaluating the quality of life of elderly chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. Methods: It was a descriptive and transversal study performed with 58 patients in a hemodialysis center. The World Health Organization Quality of Life - bref (Whoqol-bref) questionnaire was used to measure the quality of life of the participants of the study. Data were analyzed descriptively, using SPSS version 21. Results: the majority of the participants were male (62%); aged between 60 and 75 years (84%); married (58%); retired or receiving illness aid (80%); Catholic (86%). Most patients had at least four years of formal education (80%); received between one and two Brazilian minimum wage (77%); classified their health as “fragile” or “very fragile” (58%); had been on hemodialysis for more than a year (80%), and its prevalence was 60% between one and six years. The arteriovenous fistula was present in 88% of the patients. High blood pressure was the main primary cause of the chronic kidney disease in 48.64% of the patients. Regarding the quality of life of the elderly patients measured by the Whoqol-bref questionnaire, the Physical was the most affected domain with an average of 43.94. It was found a significant statistical difference between quality of life of the elderly chronic kidney disease patients and years of formal education in the following domains: Social Relationships (p=0.001), Environment (p=0.029) and General Quality of Life (p=0.013). A significant statistical difference was also reported between quality of life of elderly chronic kidney disease patients and family income in the Environment (p=0.006) and General Quality of Life domains (p=0.031). Conclusions: studies on quality of life offer strategies to health workers that allow them to measure physical, psychological, social and environmental necessities in a way to meet the real needs of elderly patients undergoing renal therapy.
