Gas sensitivity of composite Langmuir–Blodgett films of Fe2O3 nanoparticle-copper phthalocyanine

Lihua Huo; Xueling Li; Wenying Li; Shiquan Xi

The Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) composite films, ferric oxide nanoparticle composite with tris-(2,3-di-t-amylphenoxy)-(8-quinolinolinolyl) copper phthalocyanine (CuPcA(2)), were obtained by capped type and alternated type and characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and visible spectra. The gas sensitivity of the composite films and the pure ferric oxide and pure CuPcA(2) LB films to ammonia and ethanol were measured at room temperature. The composite films could be used as the C2H5OH sensors in the range of 2-8 or 100-200 ppm. The XPS data suggested that the adduct complex NH3-CuPcA(2) was formed after the capped film was exposed to the detected gas of ammonia

Lihua Huo; Lixin Cao; Dongmei Wang; Haining Cui; Guangfu Zeng; Shiquan Xi

Stable monolayer of the polyaniline doped with camphor sulfonic acid at the air-water interface has been obtained, of which multilayers have been successfully deposited by Langmuir-Blodgett technique onto CaF2 substrate. The limiting mean molecular area and collapse pressure are found to be 0.294 nm(2) and 41 mN/m, respectively. The multilayers were characterized by IR and W-Vis-NIR spectroscopies. X-ray small-angle diffraction data show that the multilayer was periodic layer structure with the layer spacing of 1.60 nm. The comparisons are also made with characterization of the casting film

Study of ferric oxide nanoparticles-tris-(2,4-di-t-amylphenoxy)-(8-quinolinolyl) copper phthalocyanine composite LB film

Lihua Huo; Lixin Cao; Xinglin Li; Wei Li; Haining Cui; Dapeng Jiang; Guangfu Zeng; Shiquan Xi

The ferric oxide nanoparticles-tris-(2,4-di-t-amylphenoxy)-(8-quinolinolyl) copper phthalocyanine (CuPcA(2)) composite ultrathin film was obtained by LB (Langmuir-Blodgett) technique. Structure of the composite LB film was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectra, transmission electron microscopy, infrared spectra and visible spectra. Gas sensitivity measurements indicate that the composite LB film is sensitive to 100-200 ppm C2H5OH at room temperature

Self-assembled multilayers of alternating gold nanoparticles and dithiols: approaching to superlattice

Wei Li; Lihua Huo; Dongmei Wang; Guangfu Zeng; Shiquan Xi; Bing Zhao; Jijun Zhu; Jing Wang; Y. R. Shen; Zuhong Lu

The preparation of self-assembled multilayers of alternating gold nanoparticles and dithiols on Si or SiO2 substrates coated with (3-aminopropyl) trimethoxysilane are reported. The superlattice structure of these self-assembled multilayers was demonstrated by the results of UV-Vis spectrometry, AFM and X-ray diffraction measurements. The multilayer assembled by small-size gold particles has good periodic structure

Preparation and Characterization of DBSA Doped Polyaniline Thin Films

Lihua Huo; Lixin Cao; Haining Cui; Dongmei Wang; Guangfu Zeng; Shiquan Xi

Abstract Stable monolayer of the polyaniline(PAn) doped with dodecyl benzenesulfonic acid(DBSA) can form on the pure water surface. The multilayer ultrathin film can be successfully deposited by Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique onto CaF2 substrate. The limiting mean molecular area and collapse pressure observed are 0.066 nm2 and 35 mN m−1, respectively. The multilayer LB film and casting film were all characterized by IR and UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopies.

Molecular Orientation of Copper Phthalocyanine in Thin Films and their Gas-Sensing Properties

Lihua Huo; Wei Li; Haining Cui; Shiquan Xi

Abstract Copper phthalocyanine derivative Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films were prepared by vertical dipping and horizontal lifting methods. Molecular orientation of copper phthalocyanine derivative in thin films was studied by polarized UV-Vis spectra. The relationship between the molecular orientation of copper phthalocyanine in LB films and their gas-sensing properties was investigated.

Preparation and characterization of ordered yttrium arachidate multilayer

Lixin Cao; Lihua Huo; Xundao Yuan; Shiquan Xi

The behavior of arachidic acid on the surface of YCI3 aqueous subphase was studied by LB and Brewster angle microscopy techniques. The results showed that the pre-compressing time and the pH of the subphase played an important role in the forming of the monolayer. The monolayer on the subphase surface was irreversible. If the monolayer was compressed into wrinkles, the monolayer could not become uniform again. The optimum transferring conditions were selected and the ordered yttrium arachidate multilayer with a long spacing of 4.96 nm and a tilt angle of 28.5° of the three alkyl chains from the surface normal was fabricated and characterized.
