Abstract Objective To explore the roles of persistent systemic inflammation in atherosclerosis and the effects of saponins of Panax Notoginseng (PNS) on this process in rabbits. Methods Thirty rabbits were divided randomly and equally into 6 groups, i.e. , control, high-fat diet, inflammation, aspirin, PNS and simple-inflammation group. All the animals except that in control group and simple-inflammation group were fed with high-fat diet for 8 weeks. Based on that, rabbits in inflammation, aspirin and PNS groups were treated with zymosan injection (10 mg/kg, i.p.). Normal saline was given to rabbits in control group. Besides zymosan injection, animals in aspirin and PNS group were administrated with aspirin (12 mg/kg, i.g.) and PNS (120 mg/kg, i.g.) respectively. The animals in simple-inflammation group were treated with zymosan injection (10mg/kg, i.p.) and fed with normal diet. The atherosclerosis lesion in aortas was observed by Sudan IV staining. Serum total cholesterol, triglyceride (TG), TNF-α and activity of post-heparin lipoprotein lipase (LPL) were measured at the end of the 4th and 8th week after an overnight fast. Results Compared with high-fat diet group, the area of atherosclerosis lesion, serum TG and TNF-αwere markedly increased in rabbits of inflammation group, and the activity of LPL was decreased remarkably. Serum TNF-α level was negatively correlated with the activity of post-heparin LPL ( r = –0.708, P Conclusions Persistent systemic inflammation could accelerate the formation of atherosclerosis lesion in aortas, which partly depend on the decreasing of the activity of post-heparin lipoprotein lipase. PNS could improve the changes caused by inflammation.

Along with the rapid improvement of the measurement instruments capability and network technology, the resources sharing and collaborative work implementing in measurement system have been in front us. In order to solute these problems, a novel remote measuring and controlling system is presented. In this paper, it takes the instrument of Time Interval Counter SR620s remote measuring and controlling system as an example. The system was designed and implemented by using C language base on the platform of virtual instrument LabWindows/CVI which realized the real-time remote measuring and controlling the instrument. This paper describe the advantage of network instruments first, the system module architecture and design development process are given later. Moreover, a method of extending measurement ability of the Time Interval Counter is proposed in order to measure automatically, graphically and intelligently. The results show that the proposed system can enable interoperability and reuse within the remote measuring and controlling system. So, it makes the system function stronger.

Based on the Coordinated Universal Time (NTSC) from National Time Service Center, remote time calibrations center provides local time calibration for remote laboratory using Satellite common-view technique. The local time of long-distance workstations can be compared via this system and the time difference can be got in real-time. In accordance with ex post ephemeris, the time difference also can be modified. In addition, store and analysis the time difference data of a certain period as needed, the laws of unstable time difference due to pseudo-range, baseline-length, elevation and climate can be gain. The data came from the calibration terminal is received and saved by remote time calibration center. According to the UTC (NTSC), difference between each laboratory local time and UTC (NTSC) in various interval can be obtained and by these data, the center can analysis the local time performance. On design and implementation the software of remote time calibrations center basis, the results are primary analyzed.
