Publisher Summary Autoclaved light-weight concrete (ALC) wall panels are common products for out-hanged or in-filled walls used in China for steel buildings. Repeated and reversed tests on nine full-scale steel frames of single bay and two stories with and without ALC wall panels are carried out in the chapter. The chapter studies effects of the ALC out-hanged and in-filled wall panels on the load-bearing capacity and stiffness of steel frames through experimental and theoretical comparison on the behavior of the steel frames with and without wall panels. In addition, the hysteretic behavior of steel frames with and without ALC wall panels is also obtained in the chapter. The tests prove that the connections between ALC wall panels and steel frames behave very well, and ALC in-filled wall panels can play an important role in the mutual work of in-filled walls and steel frames. Based on the experimental results, suggestions for the structural design of steel frames with ALC wall panels are proposed in the chapter.

Publisher Summary The chapter considers main factors influencing the structural capacity of steel frames and develops the composite sampling semi-analytical method (CSSAM) for estimating the system reliability of steel frames on the basis of available statistic information. The main random variables and their statistic parameters of steel frames are analyzed and determined, and the evaluations of the system reliability of steel frames under two basic loading schemes are made using the composite sampling semi-analytical method (CSSAM). Comparison between CSSAM and the failure mode method is carried out through a steel frame example, which illustrates that CSSAM can assess structural safety more exactly. The system reliability of steel frames under two basic loading schemes can be estimated using the composite sampling semi-analytical method. The results show that the correlation of the yield strength of material between various components in a frame has more significant influence on the system reliability of the frame than the correlation of elastic section modulus between the various components.
