Lead-free (Bi0.5Na0.5)0.93Ba0.07TiO3–xwt%In2O3 ceramics synthesized by direct reaction sintering have been studied. X-ray diffraction reveals that all (Bi0.5Na0.5)0.93Ba0.07TiO3–xwt%In2O3 ceramics are of a perovskite structure with coexistence of rhombohedral and tetragonal phases. It is found that the direct reaction sintering promotes growing of ceramic grains while doping of In2O3 contributes to inhibit and homogenize the grain growth, as shown by scanning electron microscopy. The ceramics show excellent piezoelectric and dielectric properties with thickness electromechanical coupling factor kt=0.503, piezoelectric constant d33=205pC∕N, dielectric constant e33T∕e0=1046, and loss tangent tanδ=0.036.

Abstract A long-shaped piezoelectric ceramic coupler based on piezoelectric effect and inverse piezoelectric effect is fabricated with the material of modified PZT (PbZrO3-PbTiO3). And the main technical parameters of the coupler are: ε>1500, Kp>60,d33>450, Qm >600. The coupler has advantages in good signal transmission and strong anti-interference. In contrast to traditional relays, the new type of relay with the coupler possesses excellent anti-interference feature, high trigger sensitivity, as well as shorter switching-on time. This new relay will have a very good applied prospect.

Abstract A piezoelectric ceramic-metal composite with single cavity has been developed. The composite has not only high piezoelectric strain constant, also advantages of small position-dependence, easy manufacture and high stability, which make it fixed easily. The optimum dimensions of composite have been obtained by experiment. The relative effective piezoelectric strain constant is 7890pC/N which is 24 times that of PZT piezoelectric ceramic (d 33=330pC/N).

The working principle and characteristics of a large-power piezoelectric-ceramic-transformer (PCT) high voltage power supply are introduced for computer cathode-ray-tube monochromatic display application at first. The experimental results show that such a PCT high voltage power supply can completely meet the technological demands of computer monochromatic display. Moreover, the substitute of the conventional flying back transform with the piezoelectric ceramic transformer can improve the reliability of computer display, lower the cost, and decrease greatly the volume of high voltage winding.
