A review of both design methods and manufacture processes of noncircular gears are presented in this paper. New tooth profile generation methods are described here. Traditional and current manufacture processes are mentioned as well as their both classical and modern applications.

A study of require characteristics of some functions (Bezier curves, B-splines, cycloidal) for their use as displacement law of noncircular gears is presented in this work. Displaclement law of elliptical gear is also studied. The case with different periods between driver and driven wheels is considered here.

Analisis en tiempo y frecuencia de señales de vibracion tomadas al pie del carril durante el paso de un tren

Characterization of the defects in wheel-rail contact, in railway transport, using vibration signals has been, in the last years, an important factor in the maintenance of the railroads in order to limit the impact of the vibrations both in the own facilities and in its surroundings. This work is a contribution to the study and the characterization of possible present defects in movable material of the subway of Barcelona (FCMB). For it, the use of time-frequency techniques for signal analysis is proposed. In the work, signals coming from the vibration of the foot of the rail to the passage of a train are analyzed using STFT (Short Time Fourier Transform) and WT (Wavelet Transform).

There are many applications where non-uniform rotation transmission mechanisms, throughout of a rotation period of the driving link, are required. Noncircular gears wheels can be used to produce this kind of non-constant transmission ratio. A comparison of the torque fluctuations and the transmitted forces to chassis produced by a linkage mechanism and by a noncircular gear, with the same displacement law and identical operation conditions, are shown in this paper.
