Integrated starter-generator for the 42V electrical system

Conventional alternators are increasingly approaching the limits of their performance capacity. Therefore, the advent of the 42 V electrical system will see the introduction of new startergenerators that offer a much higher power, higher efficiency and new technical features. This article compares various startergenerator concepts, and it demonstrates the performance capacity of Siemens VDO Automotive’s starter-generator system that uses an asynchronous machine.
