Uno studioso ha scritto, molti anni or sono, che l’ultimo rifugio degli artisti incapaci e la musica colta, nel senso che, quando non sanno come risolvere una qualche situazione drammatica, usano la scorciatoia di imbottire lo spettacolo di musica classica. Osservazione che ha molto a che fare con questa versione de Il berretto a sonagli di Luigi Pirandello (1867 – 1936) proposta da Giuseppe Dipasquale.

The sounds of the Girgenti dialect, and their development

Contents: The first chapter deals with the stressed and unstressed vowels of the dialect of Girgenti, and the regular and sporadic changes they have undergone over time, while the second chapter similarly focuses on the consonants. The dissertation concludes with the authors curriculum vitae, as well as a list of propositions (or points of discussion) that served as a basis for the defense of his work. The translator-editor has included the few supplementary pages of a second edition of the study, and other material (such as a bibliography and a pertinent epistolary) which the reader should find useful in grasping the total import of this early publication.
