On 2-Repeated Burst Error Detecting Codes

There are several kinds of burst errors for which error detecting and correcting codes have been constructed. In this paper, we introduce a new kind of burst error which will be termed as ‘repeated burst error’. Linear codes capable of detecting such errors have been studied. Further, codes capable of detecting and simultaneously correcting such errors have also been dealt with. The paper obtains lower and upper bounds on the number of parity-check digits required for such codes. An example of such a code has also been provided.

A bound for codes correcting random and low-density closed-loop burst errors

Abstract This paper presents a lower bound on the number of parity-check digits required for a linear code that corrects random errors and errors which are in the form of closed-loop low-density bursts.

A construction of a key exchange protocol

Abstract In this paper we construct a key exchange protocol for four users using a function with a particular property The construction can be generalized to many users. In [1] and [3] there is a key exchange protocol for two or three users based on 2-cocycles.

On the size of a blocking set in a symmetric design

Abstract In this paper we prove that the size of a blocking set in a 2-(v, k, λ) symmetric design, with k<λ2−λ+1, is at least and that this result is sharp.

Difference equations and Rao-Hamming bound

Abstract This paper studies the patterns of the already known solutions of the equation obtained from the well-known Rao-Hamming sphere-packing bound with equality. To be precise, we explore the difference equations that the solutions satisfy. The length ni and the number of information digits ki of the corresponding codes are also shown to be linearly independent solutions of a second order linear non-homogeneous difference equation.

Bound for solid burst error correction with Lee weight

Abstract In this paper, we obtain bound for codes correcting solid burst errors with Lee weight over Z q and show that this bound is same as the corresponding bound with Hamming weight over Z2 and Z3. We also obtain some special/particular cases of this bound. Finally, we obtain Lee weight bound for solid bursts with limited intensity.
