Towards a Knowledge Transfer 2.0 Process with an Impact on a Companies of Social Business

Lillyana María Giraldo; Luis Joyanes; Marta S. Tabares

This paper discusses a knowledge transfer 2.0 process that guides the construction of knowledge networks in collaborative environments based on the business model put forward by social business. This process is defined as a workspace to deployment the knowledge transfer 2.0 model (COOPIN 2.0), which was created to strengthen multi-directional communication that actively uses social media. The process was developed in three stages. As a starting point, work was focused on the cultural change towards knowledge transfer and organizational collaboration. Then, the process of knowledge transfer was designed following the methods of observation, experimentation, analysis, and assessment, using a case study to assess the validity of the process. The results shown a change in individual and organizational culture towards a culture of knowledge transfer, along with improving maturity levels in terms of collaboration since the onset of the process. Thus, we come to the conclusion that any knowledge-creation company should adhere to a knowledge transfer process in order to support the company’s social business.

Implementación de un servicio en la web –mashup– para la fusión de imágenes satelitales usando la transformada rápida de wavelet HAAR

Rubén Medina; Luis Joyanes; Carlos Pinilla; Oscar Ardila; Fernando Pineda

Components of art and knowledge management through Nonaka and Takeuchi's model

José G. Birlanga; Juan Ignacio Rouyet; Luis Joyanes

The universe of the arts may be articulated around a set of components which although can be tracked as constant over the time, each one of them has its own non-autonomous evolution. Furthermore, the insularity of these components is being questioned. Today, it is difficult to ignore the quantitative and qualitative leap of its amounts and relationships. Understanding current, and future, art implies understanding the elements that comprise this set and their relationship. To accomplish this, we propose an interdisciplinary reference framework applying the knowledge management theory. We propose the Nonaka and Takeuchi’s model to explain the meanings and relationships concerning the components, in both the classical and current system of the arts, within an artistic universe that is becoming broader and less definable.

New Technologies in Portugal: Regular Middle and High School.

Teresa Florentino; Lucas Sánchez; Luis Joyanes

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to elaborate upon the relation between information and communication technologies (ICT), particularly web‐based resources, and their use, programs and learning in Portuguese middle and high regular public schools.Design/methodology/approach – Adding collected documentation on curriculum, laws and other related articles; the paper also includes statistical information based on collected data from questionnaires carried out in some main Lisbon parishes. The students and teachers universe in Portugal are about 110,420 people for regular public middle and high schools. In total, 1,120 questionnaires were collected and treated as samples.Findings – According to the questionnaires, technologies are quite accepted in schools. Use and quantity of resources restrain learning evolution with recent technologies. Combining theoretical knowledge and on‐field perceptions, analysis and evaluation leads to the conclusion that there are some evident discrepancies when ICT is analyzed...

Applying IT Governance Concepts and Elements to Knowledge Governance: An Initial Approach

Juan Ignacio Rouyet; Luis Joyanes

As the era of knowledge-based economy is emerging, the importance of knowledge governance is gradually increasing. The question of how the governance mechanisms influence on the knowledge transactions is becoming increasingly relevant. However, the theoretical approaches have yet to solve outstanding issues, such as how the the micro-level governance mechanisms influence the knowledge processes or what kind of organizational hazard could decrease the benefits form the knowledge processes. Furthermore, the deployment of empirical studies to address the issues mentioned is arguably needed. This paper proposes a knowledge governance framework to assist effectively in the implementation of governance mechanisms for knowledge management processes. Additionally, it shows how this may be implented in a knowledge-intensive firm and proposes specific structures and governance mechanisms.

Collaborative e-Business and Software Agents

Augusto E. Bernuy; Luis Joyanes

The paper proposes the functions for two new agents in collaboration e-business, since we know that collaborative processes are growing up and we have a large way to work on researches about e-business. The start point is after we identify collaboration between people, processes and systems, we believe that each important process of the organization during its daily routine has two elements like context and content joined itself. Then, we can understand those processes are important when you look at them as a result for another one and it can resolve a problem. We want to get the ability to collaborate and leverage the knowledge. We have been based the analysis on the intangibles assets joined with the technology in order to build a design to understand the collaborative e-business processes. We present the results of the process and collaboration that already exist between themselves each time when a task has been started, in order to obtain new knowledge. To do that, we are based in new DirCCI model for collaboration of intellectual capital, where the business needs and collaboration are defined and then we propose the concepts to design and understand the main elements of the new system. The result is a new way to understand collaboration based on software agents in order to gain significant and sustainable competitive advantage and knowledge management in the organizations and now we should think in how help people, processes and systems to think about virtual decisions through e-business.

Improving collaboration and interaction in distributed b-learning environment

R. Nidia Moncallo; Pilar Herrero; Luis Joyanes

EE-CoL is a teaching strategy developed for learning distributed environments. It is based on a socio-constructivism approach and supplies the necessary tools to achieve meaningful learning by reinforcing interaction and collaboration between students. EE-CoL emerged to complement traditional teaching, improving the conventional learning process and ensuring a continuous virtual communication between students and teachers by means of new collaborative learning strategies and tool supplied by ICT (Information and Communication Technology). This paper presents the experience carried out at Universidad Politecnica de Barquisimeto, (UNEXPO) in Venezuela for an Electronics Laboratory course. In this article, a special emphasis is placed on the teachers role in order to establish new parameters for a more interactive learning model.
