Optimization for Materials Selection and its Importance in a Management Performance

The complexity and importance of the management activities, and implicitly decision-making activities requires in the current period, the use of modern techniques and methods, very well scientifically founded. A power plant management activity involves making decisions based wealth of information and often involve the most varied criteria: technical, economic, environmental and others. Using methods of multi-criteria decision becomes an indispensable decision factor. In this paper, we apply such a method for prioritizing namely Onicescu method in solving the problems as the optimal choose of materials for the realization of thermal to a superheater. Are analyzed three materiale10CrMo9-10, 13CrMo4-5, 16Mo3 taking into account criteria such as technical resistance duration, creep limit, cost and others.

Air Quality Assessment through a Multi Criteria Decision Method

Starting from the high importance of problems regarding environmental quality and their impact on human life, we present in this paper some aspects about how we can use multi-criteria decision methods for solving environmental management problems. This paper focuses on applying one of these methods, namely TOPSIS method, for air quality assessment in a region, in order to rank different periods of time as regarding the concurrent action of the main pollutants that exist. Analyzing air quality evolution in a region can help establishing if the decisions regarding this aspect are in a favorable trend or some changes need to be made.

Aspects about Using Onicescu Method for Studying Problems of Environmental Quality

The aim of the paper is to present some aspects about Onicescu multi-criteria decision method and its application in decision problems regarding environmental quality. The mentioned method is applied to an air pollution problem, namely a problem in which we want to rank the counties from a certain region with respect to a complex air quality characteristic, a characteristic which incorporates all the most important air pollutants that exist in the considered region. Both variants of this method are applied in this paper and a comparison study between them is also made.
