Electronic structure of amorphous and disordered crystalline Cu-W alloys of similar composition

Abstract The electronic structures of amorphous and disordered crystalline transition-metal alloys of similar composition are studied with photo- emission experiments and self-consistent electronic structure calculations. The calculated densities of states are in good agreement with the observed photoemission spectra. The lack of long-range structural order in the amorphous system is reflected in the changes in its electronic structure compared to that of the crystalline disordered alloy.

Electronic structure and surface reactivity of Nd2Fe14B and related compounds

Studies of electronic and magnetic structure and surface reactivity are reported for R2T14B compounds where R=Y, Nd, Gd, and T=Fe, Co. The calculations employed the self‐consistent, spin‐polarized linear‐muffin‐tin orbital method. Experiments included ultraviolet, x‐ray, and Auger electron spectroscopy. Comparisons are made between the calculated and measured electronic densities of states, and the reactions of the surfaces with O2, H2, and CO gases are studied. The effects of heat treatment on surface segregation are also reported.

Electronic structure and photoemission on VNi3

Abstract The electronic structure of VNi 3 has been calculated and compared with the experimental results from photoemission, magnetic susceptibility and heat capacity measurements. The linearized muffintin orbitals method is used to compute the electronic density of states. Both paramagnetic and spin-polarized calculations have been performed and give results in good overall agreement with the experimental data.
