Bidirectionally pumped difference-frequency generation in AlGaAs waveguides: polarization-independent, multichannel wavelength conversion with input signal filtering capabilities

We demonstrated a configuration of a module that simultaneously achieves polarization independent multichannel operation and filtering of input signals. The future integration of pump laser with the nonlinear waveguide and improved efficiency can make such a module viable for scalable and modular wavelength interchanging optical crossconnects.

Quasi-phasematched blue-green second-harmonic generation in ZnCdSe waveguides with patterned crystal orientation

Summary form only given. We discuss quasi-phase-matched blue-green second-harmonic generation in a ZnCdSe waveguide grown on an AlGaAs template with patterned crystal orientation. The design and fabrication of the quasiphase-matched waveguide include those ofa template with periodic domain inversion and those ofa waveguide for confining both the fundamental and the second-harmonic waves.
