A positron plasma in the laboratory—how and why

An electrostatic trapping scheme is described which is designed to efficiently trap and store low‐energy positrons. Operation of the trap is described for both positrons and electrons. Several uses of such a collection of positrons are discussed as well as the limits expected for such accumulation and storage methods.
