Identification of selection parameters for evaluating superior rice hybrids

Avijit Kumar Paul; Ekhlaque Ahmad; Dn Singh; M. Singh

Forty eight popular rice hybrids were studied to find out suitable genetic parameters for evaluation of an elite rice hybrid. The experiment was conducted during kharif 2012 and 2013 at Zonal Research Station, Chianki (Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi), Palamau. A wide spectrum of variability was observed for all the characters in both the years. High genotypic coefficient of variation was observed for grains/panicle followed by test weight, grain yield and tillers/plant both for the years. High heritability percent was observed for days to 50% flowering, test weight and grain yield during kharif, 2012 and 2013. Days to 50% flowering days to maturity, grains/panicle and test weight had high positive significant association with grain yield whereas plant height, panicles/sq. m and tillers/plant showed positive significant correlation with grain yield at genotypic level. High positive direct effect was noted for test weight followed by grains/panicle, days to 50% flowering, days to maturity and plant height. Based on the results of the present study on correlation and path analysis, the characters i.e. grains/panicle, test weight, days to 50% flowering and days to maturity influenced the grain yield either directly or indirectly in hybrid rice for improving the grain yield.

Hydrogenation Effect on Mg/Mn Multilayer Thin Films

M.K. Jangid; S.P. Nehra; M. Singh

Multilayer Mg/Mn thin films have been prepared using thermal evaporation method at pressure 10−5u2009torr. Annealing of structure has been performed in atmospheric condition at 600 K constant temperature for one hour. Hydrogenation of annealed thin films has been performed by keeping these in hydrogenation cell at different hydrogen pressures for 30 min. The UV–VIS absorption spectra of thin films have been carried out at room temperature in the wavelength range of 300–800 nm. The optical band gap was found to be increase and conductivity has been found to be decreased with hydrogen pressure. Raman spectra of these sample shows decreasing intensity of peaks with hydrogenation.

TiO2/PANI And MWNT/PANI Composites Thin Films For Hydrogen Gas Sensing

Subodh Srivastava; Sumit Kumar; Shweta Agrawal; Arpita Saxena; B. L. Choudhary; Shubhra Mathur; M. Singh; Y. K. Vijay

The MWNT and TiO2 doped Polyaniline (PANI) composites were synthesized by In‐situ chemical oxidative polymerization method at low temperature. The MWNT/PANI and TiO2/PANI composite thin films were prepared using spin coating method onto finger type interdigited electrodes to develop the chemiresistor type gas sensor for hydrogen gas sensing application. It was observed that the MWNT and TiO2 doped PANI composite thin films show a higher response in comparision to neat PANI. The structural and morphological properties of these composite films were characterized by X‐Ray differaction (XRD) pattern and sccaning electrone microscopy (SEM) respectively. The MWNT and TiO2 doped Polyaniline (PANI) composites were synthesized by In‐situ chemical oxidative polymerization method at low temperature.
