Nanocomposites based on LaCoO3 and mesoporous molecular sieves: Preparation and physicochemical and catalytic properties

Individual perovskite-like LaCoO3 obtained by the citrate method and LaCoO3 supported onto the mesoporous molecular sieve MSM-41 have been characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, EPMA, low-temperature nitrogen adsorption, H2 TPR, and EXAFS. The catalytic activity of the supported cobaltate in methanol oxidation is two orders of magnitude higher than the activity of the bulk cobaltate owing to nanosized LaCoO3 particles in the pores of the molecular sieve.

Micro-meso-materials from TS-1 seeds : structure-properties

m Reichinger; Hermann Gies; M. W. E. van den Berg; Wolfgang Grünert; Christine E. A. Kirschhock

Using silicate solutions with TS-1 seed crystals mesoporous materials of type MCM-41 and MCM-48 were synthesized. The product materials possess hierarchical pore systems with the typical properties of microporous TS-1 and mesoporous MCM-41 and MCM-48 respectively. In order to show these materials features thermal analyses, multi nuclear NMR experiments, diffraction studies, XAS analyses and catalytic tests were performed. In this contribution we report on the evidence that mm-MCM-41(TS-1) and mm-MCM-48(TS-1) have distinct structures and specific properties attributed to the hierarchical structural organization of the silicate framework.
