Design of a 140 GHz confocal gyro-TWT amplifier

The design and simulation results for a 140 GHz gyro-amplifier are presented. A bandwidth of over 3 GHz has been achieved in simulation with peak saturated gain of over 33 dB. Study dispersion characteristic and beam-wave interaction of the confocal waveguide. The HE06 mode of a confocal waveguide is chosen as the operating mode and distributed loss is employed via diffraction to stabilize the circuit.

Experimental study of a 95GHz gyrotron

A 95GHz gyrotron has been developed which has achieved operation of 30.1kW/600s with an inside quasi-optical system. A triode magnetron injection gun, a TE62-mode cavity and a single-stage depress collector are adopted in the design, which predictes a power of 37kW generated from the cavity. The RF power is then changed into gaussian beam by the quasi-optical system with an efficiency of 85%. The design and the experimental results shows good consistency with each other.
