In this paper, the advantages of fuel cell technology based backup power for telecommunications facilities were investigated. And a scalable solution, including electrical system structure and key components selection reasons, was provided. Based on scalable system design, a fuel cell system life and performance optimization method by dynamic output control was proposed. Additionally, a prototype system was tested in the test stand, which shows this solution can well meet the requirements.

Mobile power plant is widely used in emergency or some other special conditions. As a promising alternative solution for internal combustion generator, mobile fuel cell power plants are becoming the study focus of many researchers. In this paper, a detailed system design of mobile emergency power plant based on fuel cells is provided. And then the system control strategy is introduced, which is proved to be effective by tested on a demo machine. Experimental results show that the demos performance is almost equal to the traditional generators.
