Exclusion phenomenon in common understanding denotes processes in which some group of people or individuals are permanently blocked from resources (mostly considered as social exclusion). For sure such sort of phenomena is observed as unwanted not only from “outsiders” but also from local and global society point of view. The exclusion (and its antonym inclusion) phenomenon can be investigated including many aspects: starting from identifying exclusion as a process, multidimensional research in this area up to solutions available in the domain. In order to be successful in overtaking this phenomenon groups and institution involved in this process should be supported by ICT solutions. The paper consists of five parts which gradually present context of the problem and proposed solutions. After short introduction concerning research background the discussed concept of exclusion processes is presented. In the main section real examples of exclusion processes are investigated which allows to define assumptions of knowledge portal architecture and some examples of performed services. It creates opportunities for formulation final conclusions about the necessity and usability the developed platform.

This paper describes the authors concept for universal enterprise platform that allows to benefit from modern approaches to data analysis based on Business Intelligence and Big Data technologies. This idea is based on SOA architecture that enables workflow to coordinate the business processes and communicate domain applications with bespoke Business Intelligence and Big Data Solutions. Whole platform is designed the way that can be provided in a cloud environment.

Abstract Conducting informatic projects requires the application of modern solutions that streamline workflow. Current projects are becoming more complicated, during their implementation, large amounts of data and information are generated. In addition, in many external sources we can find data and information of the various forms and levels of detail. To get from this data a valuable knowledge, it is necessary to use new data analysis techniques and new technological solutions. The article sets out to present a dissertation of considerations for IT projects and the steps of IT project were highlighted with areas and IT tools that support their implementation. The aim of this article is to assess the current level of use of IT tools by the companies considered as leaders, at various stages of IT projects implementation. The authors also rated the intensity of IT tools usage in various areas of project execution. The paper includes results of research conducted, and can serve as a guideline for enterprises developing IT tools intended to streamline informatic projects. The contents of the dissertation are based on literature studies and empirical research.

The paper proposes a methodology for the development of a marketing decision support system using Big Data technology and data mining techniques. The approach was inspired by the CRISP-DM methodology, which is not oriented towards Big Data projects. Therefore, we have modified this methodology with respect to the purpose and technological requirements of the project. The proposed methodology was tested during development of RTOM (Real Time Omnichannel Marketing) project. Project tasks focus on the analysis and exploration of large and heterogeneous data sets. The paper presents the phases of the project implementation according to the extended CRISP-DM methodology, taking into account the specifics of the analysis and exploration processes of large real-time marketing databases. Examples of project steps are also provided to illustrate the approach.

Modern decision-taking processes are supported by advanced information technologies. There are many products on the market representing more and more smart solutions therefore selection of proper software is not easy especially if managers are oriented on minimizing costs in computer infrastructure. It is significantly important for people representing small and medium-sized enterprises. On the other hand it is common expectation of well-educated staff as graduates of academia. This is very essential assumption for educational sector where teaching methodology and defined software packages are discussed and proposed. Initial point of the research is discussion of teaching methodology essence and diversification. In our paper we propose methodology of selection free software tools essential in education limited to teaching of business intelligence. Especially Magic Quadrant prepared by Gartner is carefully analyzed. The main software products offering by different companies were taken into account and procedure of selection was defined including list of criteria essential in the choice of a product. The list of criteria embraces different perspectives of the selection. Power BI as the selected tool is presented in more details.

In current world, organizations need to adapt to the changing business environment. They decide to conduct projects that result with new business processes, new products or services. Very often the goal of the project is to streamline specific area of company or a whole business. The projects become a very complex set of activities that require a sophisticated IT tools to support the efficiency of all the actions. Probably none single software application is able to handle every aspect of the project. That is why the authors decided to identify the kinds of software necessary for supporting the project and choose the applications that from their perspective can aid specific project activities. We have to remember that projects can generate a significant amount of data. If we are able to transform data into relevant information, we can maximize the possibility of success (both project and organization). In this paper authors propose the foundation of a complex platform supporting project management and execution with an emphasis on the analytical and reporting part by usage of Business Intelligence and Big Data technologies. Evaluation of such a platform is the subject for the future work.

Current business faces new challenges that require modern and adjusted IT models. Authors of this paper try to identify and indicate selected challenges that are addressed by by cloud computing concept and Big Data solutions. Authors of this paper concentrate od Microsoft Azure cloud offering mainly in area of Big Data and they want to prove that development of Big Data solutions in cloud environment can be efficient from financial and functional perspective.
