The single diffractive cross section for heavy quarks production is calculated at next-to-leading order (for nucleus-nucleus collisions. Such processes are expected to occur at the LHC, where the nuclei involved are lead at {radical}(s)=5.5 TeV and calcium at {radical}(s)=6.3 TeV. We start using the hard diffractive factorization formalism, taking into account a recent experimental parametrization for the Pomeron structure function (DPDF). Absorptive corrections are accounted for by the multiple Pomeron contributions considering a gap survival probability, where its theoretical uncertainty for nuclear collisions is discussed. We estimate the diffractive ratios for the single diffraction process in nuclear coherent/incoherent collisions at the LHC.

An analysis of W± and Z0 hard diffractive hadroproduction at high energies is presented obtained using the simple assumption of Regge factorization and considering the recent diffractive parton density functions extracted by the H1 Collaboration at DESY‐HERA. The corresponding multiple Pomeron exchange corrections to the single Pomeron one is considered by taking into account by a gap survival probability factor. It is shown that the ratio of diffractive to nondiffractive boson production is in good agreement with the Tevatron data. Estimations which are relevant for the incoming measurements at the LHC are discussed.

We present an exploratory QCD analysis of the neutrino structure functions in charged current DIS using the color dipole formalism. The dipole cross sections are taken from recent phenomenological/theoretical studies in deep inelastic inclusive production. The theoretical predictions are compared to the available experimental results in the small-x region, which has never been considered so far.

Abstract The rates for diffractive quarkonium plus prompt-photon associated production at the LHC are estimated. The theoretical framework considered in the J / Ψ (or ϒ ) production associated with a direct photon at the hadron collider is the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism. The corresponding single diffractive cross section is computed based on the hard diffractive scattering factorization supplemented by absorptive corrections. Such processes are sensitive to the gluon content of the Pomeron at small Bjorken-x and they may also be a good place to test the different available mechanisms for quarkonium production at hadron colliders.

The rate for inclusive charm production in neutral current neutrino-nucleus interactions is calculated. The interaction of high energy neutrinos on hadron targets is an outstanding probe to test Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and shed light in the understanding of the parton properties of hadron structure. We have considered the QCD color dipole picture for such an interaction and have in addition used parton saturation models. In particular, the dipole cross section is taken from recent phenomenology on deep inelastic scattering (DIS) at DESY-HERA. The theoretical predictions are compared to available theoretical predictions and experimental results from NuTeV detector at Fermilab. Moreover, we compute the relative rate of the associated cross section in deep inelastic neutrino-nucleus interactions, σ(ccv)σNCtot, from CHORUS Collaboration. As a byproduct, a QCD analysis of the F2, FL and F3 structure functions for the neutral current case also is presented.

The inclusive double Pomeron exchange cross section for heavy-quark pair production is calculated for nucleus-nucleus collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. The present estimate is based on hard diffractive factorization, corrected by absorptive corrections and nuclear effects. The theoretical uncertainties for nuclear collisions are investigated and a comparison to other approaches is presented. The production channels giving a similar final state configuration are discussed as well.

We present a QCD analysis of the neutral current (NC) neutrino-nucleus interaction at the small-x region using the color dipole formalism. This phenomenological approach is quite successful in describing experimental results in deep inelastic ep scattering and charged current neutrino-nucleus interactions at high energies. We present theoretical predictions for the relevant structure functions and the corresponding implications for the total NC neutrino cross section. It is shown that at small x, the NC boson-nucleon cross section should exhibit the geometric scaling property that has important consequences for ultrahigh energy neutrino phenomenology.

In this contribution we present an exploratory QCD analysis of the neutrino structure functions in charged current DIS using the color dipole formalism. The corresponding dipole cross sections are taken from recent phenomenological and theoretical studies in deep inelastic inclusive production, including nuclear shadowing corrections. The theoretical predictions are compared to the available experimental results in the small-x region.
