An experimental evaluation of input devices for pointing work

Abstract We have studied the pointing device operation through experiments on pointing time, accuracy, mental work load, and psychological easiness to operate. As a result, there was a difference in accuracy, pointing time and the mental work load with different amounts of movement of the pointing device and amounts of movement of the pointer on the screen. The cause is that it is difficult to have eye–hand coordination.

The Effects of Rehearsal on Visual Memory

Publisher Summary This chapter illustrates quantitatively the effect that rehearsal exerts to the time interval of presentation and the effect of the rehearsal carried but by voicing in the case of continuously presenting information on cathode ray tubes (CRTs). The subjects were seven males of 20-odd years old having normal eyesight. At the same positions of CRT display, seven capital letters of alphabet and numerals were displayed at random, and the subjects were asked to answer what were the displayed letters. The answer is decided to be free recall experiment, the order of which may not always be the same as the order of presentation. From results, it is considered that by carrying out the rehearsal by voicing, the information in the former part of serial position can be maintained, and mistaken cognition can be prevented.
