Introduction: The sports have great meanings in adult health. The contributions of the practices of physical exercise has been huge. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the strength and the electrical activity of the pectoralis major muscle during bench press exercise on a machine in horizontal, incline and decline positions. Methodology : The sample was constituted of 20 male subjects with mean age of 23.2 ± 0.9 years old. They underwent electromyographic evaluation of the three parts of the pectoralis major muscle, performing the horizontal bench press exercise with or without lumbar rectification, and they also performed the incline and decline modalities. The exercises consisted of three repetitions with Maximal Voluntary Isometric Contraction (MVIC) lasting 5 seconds each, with one-minute interval between them, followed by verbal commands of the researcher. The muscle strength values expressed in kilograms (kg) were analyzed using Miograph 2.0 software and the electromyographic signal was normalized by MVIC and extracted from a three-second window. Inferential statistics was applied by Friedman and Multiple Comparisons non-parametric tests (p<0.05). Results: The electrical activity of the clavicular and sternocostal parts of the pectoralis major muscle showed no significant difference between the four modalities of bench press exercises. However, the electrical activity of the lower part in the incline bench press exercise was statistically lower compared with the other modalities. Muscle strength was not significantly different between the four modalities of bench press exercise. Conclusion: In conclusion, muscle strength and electrical activity of the pectoralis major muscle showed no differences between the bench press modalities, except for the electrical activity of the lower part in incline exercise.

Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study, analytical with a quantitative approach, conducted with 43 elderly patients with lumbar pain attended at the elderly pastoral meetings of St John Bosco church in the city of Cajazeiras - PB. It was used as a collection tool a questionnaire with socio demographic data, the visual analogue scale (VAS) and the Roland-Morris disability questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the computer program SPSS version 20.0, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: It was observed that most of the elderly were female, widowed, illiterate and predominant age group being 71-82 years old. The pain was classified as intense (39.53%) for most of the sample and through the Roland-Morris was established that all participants showed some degree of disability, and (62.6%) had severe disability. Conclusion: Through this study it was found that low back pain generates significant influence on the functional capacity of the elderly, it is important to develop actions aimed to health promoting and preventing and consequently improving the quality of life of this age group.

There is a shortage of physiotherapy work in the area of psychiatry. Some studies conclude that body techniques have much to contribute in mental health care and stresses that physiotherapy must take its place within the new perspectives in mental health care. Thereby, it emerged the concern to assess the importance of physical therapy techniques in children with Attention Deficit Disorder/Hyperactivity Disorder-ADHD. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of physical therapy techniques in children with Attention Deficit Disorder/Hyperactivity Disorder. Methods: The study, from the point of view of its nature, framed in a double blind study with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of two groups with a total of 10 children, aged from 7 to 11 years. It was composed five children the 1st control group (held 20 sessions of psychology and educational psychology) and the 2nd therapeutic Effectiveness: group (held 20 sessions of psychology, educational psychology and physiotherapy). Results: The scores of SNAP-VI questionnaire, applied to the mothers of children by a psychologist in before and after the therapies are going on a score from 0 to 18, where this means maximum of ADHD. It was observed that the control group had improvement in 02 patients (40%), but the therapeutic group had control of ADHD in 05 patients (100%). Conclusions: With this study, we can see the importance of the implementation of physical therapy in mental health, as well as the interdisciplinary work. It is proposed, then, further studies in the area of physical therapy, once there is a scarce literature.

Child mental health affects all areas of development and impacts the physical and mental health of the family and in school performance, with its obvious consequences in adulthood. Objective: The objective was to evaluate the perception of quality of life of children and adolescents with mental disorders caregivers. Methodology: There were participating 64 caregivers of children and adolescents with mental disorders who attend one capside at a city of Paraiba backlands. Data from samples were obtained through a socio demographic questionnaire and the quality of life questionnaire WHOQOL Bref. Data were analyzed using the statistical program Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Results: The results showed that sixty (93.8%) caregivers were women, 27 (42.2%) completed high school, 40 (62.5%) were housewives, 31 (48.4%) were married , 46 (71.9%) were Catholic, 55 (85.9%) were mothers of children and adolescents and the overall score for quality of life WHOQOLBref ranged from 12.5 to 62.5 (mean = 43.9 ; SD = 12.0) and that the lowest average was found in the psychological domain (m = 40.1). It can occur at any time of year and at any stage of life, but mainly affects children under six months. It is observed the resurgence of the disease in Brazil even in places with high proportion of vaccine coverage. Objective: The research aimed to identify the epidemiological profile of pertussis in period from 2008 to 2014 in the municipalities linked to 6th Regional Management of Health from Paraiba. Method: The study is characterized as descriptive epidemiological from secondary data by a quantitative approach, it was used for data collection the database of 6 th GRS and SINAN. Results: The results show suspected cases reported in seven municipalities, higher incidence of female, white color and less than a year old, all cases in children under six months, with severe symptoms of the disease with a significant incidence of hospitalization in this age group. Conclusion: Pertussis is still present in the region, it is necessary to maintain high vaccination coverage, the survey suggests that the laboratory test be respected because more than half of the suspected cases did not perform and improve the quality of information from the appropriate filling of the plug notification.
