OBJECTIVES: To describe the profile of tuberculosis reported cases and analyze the factors associated with treatment nonadherence in the state of Parana. METHODS: Ecological study that presented the TB cases reported between 2006 and 2010, using descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression, with significance level of 5%. RESULTS: During this period, 15,077 cases were reported, of which 84.2% were new cases. The majority of patients were male, skin color/ ethnicity white, and more than half were less than 40 years old with low education. Incidence rates and treatment nonadherence were higher than national rates. Less than half had directly observed therapy. Young, alcoholics, unemployed individuals with low education and previous treatment nonadherence were more likely not to adhere to treatment. CONCLUSION: The knowledge of these aspects can support a more effective strategy in combating tuberculosis treatment nonadherence. Objectives: To describe the profile of tuberculosis reported cases and analyze the factors associated with treatment nonadherence in the state of Parana. Objective: To analyze the profile of the individuals affected by the Influenza A virus (H1N1), and the impact of vaccination on priority groups for vaccination. Methods: An ecological, observational, retrospective study, with a population of individuals living in the city of Maringa-PR who were hospitalized for Influenza A between 2009 and 2010. Results: In 2009, there were 614 hospitalizations due to influenza A virus infection in Maringa-PR. The availability of the vaccine led to a decrease in the number of affected to 169 in 2010, with the vaccine impact occurring in the following population groups: pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses and adults 20 to 39 years. Conclusion: We identified the need to extend the age range for vaccination for children aged 2 to 4 years and to complete vaccination forms of vaccinated individuals and

Introduction: In adolescence, the risk of sexually transmissible diseases has increased, becoming necessary the implementation of prevention measures. Objective: to investigate the impact of the law of compulsory immunization on the immunization coverage against Hepatitis B in adolescents in the municipal district of Maringa-Pr. Method: This is a descriptive-exploratory study, of retrospective character, regarding the number of doses of the vaccine against Hepatitis B administered in the group of 10-19 years of age, from 2001 to 2008. Data was obtained from the records of the bank “Evaluation of the Immunization Program (EIP) – municipal module” and analyzed by the statistical tests: Analysis of Variance and Tukey. Results: Statistical difference was observed in the immunization coverage against Hepatitis B before and after the compulsory nature of the immunization certificate, and also among the months with greater interest for the vaccine in the period from October to February, which is school registration time. In the 15-19 year old group, an increase on the immunization coverage was observed from 2004 to 2006, with expressive drop in 2007 and 2008 when the two larger high education institutions ceased to ask for updated immunization records in the registration. Implications on Nursing: The results show the importance of health education for the adolescents and, in the mentioned scenario, the need for discussion of the results found together with the directors of high education institutions, in order to make them aware of the importance of including the immunization records among the documents demanded in the registration.
