Computer programming ability is a type of knowledge that is considered to be quite complex because it demands many cognitive skills and extensive practice to be mastered. However, formative assessment is a strategy that can improve learning. For this reason, we developed a recommender system to aid in making choices on programming practices by recommending classes of activities. This system provides instructors with a means of semi-automatic assessment, with more individualised and accurate activities tailored to the needs of their learners. To achieve this goal, the system of recommendations analyses multidimensional profiles of new students and seeks the best match for them among profiles in the logs of previous recommendations, which were made manually. Based on these matched profiles, the system can now recommend to new learners classes of activities that are indicated by similar profiles that have already received recommendations. The recommendation of activities is thus treated by our system as a multi-label classification task in which each students profile is associated with one or more classes of programming activities. The results obtained under different evaluation metrics confirm that the chosen algorithm, the ML-kNN, correctly mimics human decisions on the recommendations of classes of activities most of the time. Furthermore, these metrics provide relevant information for instructors to perform better actions with regard to formative assessments.

In the presence of the actual world context, the importance of knowing the technological resources and making use of them to improve the performance of human activities is realized. Educat ion cannot be laid aside of this reality, on the contrary, it has to be allied and seek for resources to improve even more the process of teaching and learn ing through Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Thus, the dof Araucaria/PR, through the Educational Technology Project, has pro vided access to these resources establishing informatics laboratories, ev aluating and reorganizing the used method, as an example, the accomplishment of the Leader-Teacher function related to the laboratory monitor one. Resumo. Diante do contexto do mundo atual, percebe-se a imp ortância de conhecer os recursos tecnologicos e fazer uso deste s para melhorar o desempenho das atividades humanas. A educacao nao pficar a margem desta realidade, ao contrario, deve buscar meios de aprimorar o processo de ensino e aprendizagem por meio das Tecnologias da I nformacao e Comunicacao (TICs). Assim, o municipio de Araucari a/PR, atraves do Projeto de Tecnologia Educacional, tem viabilizado o acesso a estes recursos com a implantacao de laboratorios de informatica, ae reorganizando os metodos empregados, como por exemplo, a implemen tacao da funcao de Professor-orientador em detrimento a funcao do moni tor de laboratorio.

A avaliacao de exercicios de programacao com as finalidades de compreender as dificuldades de aprendizagem e de comparar solucoes representa um desafio para professores de programacao. Contemplando esse desafio, desenvolvemos o PCodigo II, um sistema de apoio a pratica assistida de programacao que mapeia solucoes de programacao em perfis de aprendizagem representados por 348 metricas de software. As principais funcoes do PCodigo II sao execucao em massa de exercicios, diagnostico de dificuldades de aprendizagem e analise de plagios. O PCodigo II apresenta-se, portanto, como uma importante ferramenta para auxiliar o trabalho de avaliacao de professores ao fornecer-lhes relatorios que favorecem uma analise fina e multidimensional da aprendizagem de programacao.
