Solvent-free aldol condensations: synthesis of ferrocenyldienones

Daniel I. Méndez; Elena I. Klimova; Tatiana Klimova; León Fernando; Simón Hernández; Marcos Martínez

The aldol condensation of ferrocenecarbaldehyde and acetylferrocene with aldehydes and ketones proceeded more efficiently and stereoselectively in the absence of a solvent than in solution. In all the cases, E-configured enones were obtained, which was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic studies of one of the products.

CHIRAL COMPLEXES BY DIRECT SYNTHESIS OF A BIOMOLECULE AND METAL POWDERS. CRYSTAL STRUCTURES OF THE DICHLORO[(−)-SPARTEINE-N,N′]M(II) COMPLEXES (M = Cu, Zn)

René Gutiérrez; Rosa Vazquez; Yasmi Reyes; R. Alfredo Toscano; Marcos Martínez; Cecilio Alvarez

Abstract Direct synthesis of chiral complexes dichloro[(−)-sparteine-N,N′]copper(II) 2 and dichloro[(−)-sparteine-N,N′]zinc(II) 3 derived from a biomolecule-namely the natural base (−)-sparteine- and elemental metals (Cu and Zn) in a CCl4/DMSO solvent system (DMSO = dimethylsulfoxide) is reported. The complexes were partly characterized by spectroscopic methods and their structures were fully confirmed by single-crystal x-ray analysis. A comparison between the new crystal structures of 2 and 3 and that of the free ligand (−)-sparteine displayed only slight differences on the ligand framework.

Oligomerization of benzylic alcohols and its mechanism

Raymundo Cruz-Almanza; Izumi Shiba-Matzumoto; Aydee Fuentes; Marcos Martínez; Armando Cabrera; Jorge Cárdenas; Manuel Salmón

A number of cyclic (5a-b) and linear (3a-c; 4b-c) oligomers arose from benzylic alcohols have been synthesized by treatment of 1a-c with a bentonitic earth. A mechanism for the formation of both cyclic and linear oligomers is proposed based on the isolation of the key intermediate; the ethers 2a-c.

Cyclotetraveratrylene and its benzene solvate

Marcos Martínez; Francisco Lara Ochoa; Raymundo Cruz-Almanza; Rubén A. Toscano

The title compound crystallizes in a solvent-free form and also includes solvent molecules. The X-ray structure analysis reveals that in the both crystal forms the cyclododecatetraene ring in the host molecules adopts a “sofa” conformation. The guest molecules occupy the channels formed among columns of stacked host molecules.

Synthesis of ferrocenyl-3,4-dihydro-1H-pyrimidin-2-ones

Elena I. Klimova; T. Klimova; Simón Hernández; Marcos Martínez

Methylurea reacts with linear and cyclic α,β-enones of the ferrocene series to yield ferrocenyl-3-methyl-3,4-dihydro-1H-pyrimidin-2-ones characterized by IR and 1 H and 1 3 C NMR spectroscopical data. The structure of 4-ferrocenyl-6-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-methyl-3,4-dihydro-1H-pyrimidin-2-one is confirmed by X-Ray diffraction analysis.

Ene Synthesis of Bicyclic Arylmethylenedihydropyrazoles Using 4-Phenyl-4,5-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3,5-dione

Marcos Martínez; T. Klimova-Berestneva; K. Damian-Zea; N. N. Meleshonkova; Elena I. Klimova

Abstract8-Acetyl-7-aryl-2-arylmethylene-8,9-diaza- and 4,8,9-triazabicyclo[4.3.0]non-9-enes react with4-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3,5-dione, following the ene addition pattern. Under similar conditons 7-aryl-2-arylmethylene-8-methyl-8,9-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]non-9-enes give rise to both mono- and polyadditionproducts. The product structures were studied by 1H and 13C NMR, IR, and UV spectroscopy and singlecrystal X-ray diffraction.
