One Tool among the Many

Sunbreak Productions has been around since 1978. It is a corporate production film house. In carrying out assignments, it is not a producer of computer graphic films. Rather it uses them whenever and wherever they can make a job better or easier, and thats becoming a more and more frequent occurrence, according to Dennis Aubrey, the firms vice president and creative director. Aubrey had a heavy background in theater before he went into film work, so he often sees things in a special, more intimate way. He has learned when the latest techniques can do a better job than the older, slower methods. Video editing

It all started when a group of California hotrodders decided to get its racing-minded members off the street. One of those youngsters was Stuart Hilborn, and he is as enamored of racing today as he was way back then. He put his little car into many a race over a dry lake located in the California desert. He ran into problems immediately. Carburetors were a pain in racing cars. As much trouble as they are on regular gasoline, with methanol, the fuel of choice for racing, they were even more difficult. That drove Stuart Hilborn to fuel injection.

Dogumaster by Tokyo College won first prize in the graduate division. This film also won the award given by Abel Research. Where can you sit down to dinner and watch the best in computer graphic animation? At the Videogala dinner announcing winners of NCGAs second annual contest. Videogala 87 will be held during Computer Graphics 87 in Philadelphia on Tuesday, March 24, at the Convention Center Auditorium, and it will be a true celebration of computer graphics animation from around the world. First the 1700 or so people attending will go to the cocktail party, which will feature animation strips appearing on VDTs scattered everywhere. These are the second-place and third-place winners in 10 categories.
