Purpose – Due to the warming at the automotive market in the last years and consequently the growth of vehicle production has been moved and placed emphasis on the segment. In recent years, some have known, for example, as the earthquake that struck Japan in 2011 was able to disrupt the suppliers of the country. Due to these events, supply chain risk management has become essential to the supply chain operations success. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the supplier’s systematic selection at the automotive industry compared with the identified models in the literature. Design/methodology/approach – A case study applied at the automotive to propose a method for selecting suppliers considering the risk management. Findings – These results indicate that the organization has established criteria for suppliers selection, this systematic aims to identify the potential risks in the supply chain before the supplier award the project but it’s also the current practice can be improved using as reference the...

A systematic review about a particular subject provides the basis of knowledge for supporting a research. The increase of scientific information available and the easy access to such information in electronic databases have contributed to the rise of systematic review studies. However, one of the problems that arise with traditional research methods is the difficulty of reading all available articles. Thus, some items must be selected according to predefined selection rules. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of a systematic review is directly related to the relevance of the scientific papers selected according to the purpose of the particular study, among others factors. Therefore, there are several indicators that can be used to prioritize the articles that will set the articles portfolio of the review. The objective of this article is to introduce a method and a web system, implemented in R package, designed to apply automated filters to help in the selection of articles for systematic reviews. We propose two filters in the discussed method: the journal impact factor and the number of citations of the articles. The latter was analyzed by using Pareto rule. In the portfolio creation process, articles are first selected from a query performed in the electronic databases Scopus and Web of Science. Then, the proposed method can be automatically applied using the web system introduced here.

Many companies are using lean manufacturing in an attempt to reduce costs through the elimination of waste. Changes in the manufacturing environment eventually lead to high investment, so it is important to first analyze the possible results. This paper aims to validate proposals for improvements in the productivity of a manufacturing line by the use of discrete event simulation. The simulation model that was created could provide the decision-makers with useful information, such as the production rate, changes in the number of workers and in shifts, and the order that jobs are processed. Our conclusions are that the simulation technique can present a set of viable scenarios for improvement and for choosing the best one according to a company’s strategic objectives.
