Desenho e geometria na escola primária: um casamento duradouro que termina com separação litigiosa

The article analyzes the history of Drawing and Geometry at the elementary school. As sources of research, we use legislation and pedagogical journals of wide circulation in the period were analyzed. It is concluded that initially there was an important link between the drawing and geometry. At the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, this will change with the separation between teaching content. Each of them has different goals now.The article analyzes the history of Drawing and Geometry at the elementary school. Práticas de desenho e saberes geométricos nos manuais escolares do século XIX

The article analyzes the different drawing practices in the educational process of geometric knowledge present in the textbooks of the 19th century and discusses the differences between the translated books and the Brazilian production. The question guiding the analysis is: How do drawing practices take part in the education process of geometric knowledge? The textbooks reveal the presence of two distinct approaches to the education of geometric knowledge: the freehand drawing and the geometric drawing with instruments. Despite the translations of foreign books propagating elements of the intuitive method, in which freehand drawing formalizes geometric knowledge, this proposal does not prevail in Brazilian productions, characterized by geometric drawings of predefined figures, so that the geometrical knowledge supports the drawing practice.

No presente artigo discute-se o uso da regua e compasso nas materias de Geometria e de Desenho no ensino primario do periodo da Primeira Republica. Os programas de ensino dos Estados de Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, Sergipe, Goias e Rio Grande do Sul constituem fontes privilegiadas de analise. Infere-se que construcoes com regua e compasso podem representar praticas pedagogicas para o ensino de Geometria e de Desenho no ensino primario, para alem do Estado de Sao Paulo, considerado como modelo.
