Aspectos morfológicos da semente e do desenvolvimento da planta jovem de Amburana cearensis (Arr. Cam.) A.C. Smith - Cumaru - Leguminosae Papilionoideae

Maria do Carmo Learth Cunha; Robério Anastácio Ferreira

The objectives of this research were to describe and to illustrate the morphological aspects of seeds and the aspects of seedlings development of Amburana cearensis. The fruits were harvested from five trees 100m distant each other, considering the sanity aspects and quantity of fruits produced. The endocarp stays attached to the seed like a wing after dehiscence; the hilum showed a longitudinal grove, common in the sub-family; the germination is semi-hypogeous phanerocotylar and the primary root in the seedlings phase is tuberous. The characters described and illustrated were constant between the five trees and can be used to identify the species in laboratory, nursery and ecological studies.

Dendrological Characterization as Inspection Resources of Caatinga Wood Market

Rayssa de Medeiros Morais; Maria do Carmo Learth Cunha; Gregório Mateus Santana; Juarez Benigno Paes

This study aimed to distinguish five native forest species of the Caatinga Biome from the exotic invasive algaroba (Prosopis juliflora (Sw.) DC.), considering dendrologic characteristics of bark and wood, in order of providing subsidies for the inspection of the wood market in this Biome. The native species studied were jurema-preta (Mimosa tenuiflora (Willd.) Poir.), angico branco (Anadenanthera colubrina var. colubrina (Vell.) Brenan), angico vermelho (Anadenanthera colubrina var. cebil (Gris.) Alts.), aroeira (Myracrodruon urundeuva Allem) and braúna-do-sertão (Schinopsis brasiliensis Engl.). Studied species were recognized using dendrology identification records, containing characteristics of bark, heartwood and sapwood coloration; and the organoleptic proprieties like color, smell and taste, used for safe wood logs identification. The macroscopic characteristics, organized in dichotomous key, allowed the differentiation among the species, available in logs, during inspection.

Estrutura da Vegetação em Dois Fragmentos de Caatinga Antropizada na Paraíba

Francisco Geovanio da Silva Sabino; Maria do Carmo Learth Cunha; Gregório Mateus Santana

This study aimed to assess the floristic and structural differences between two contiguous fragments of Caatinga vegetation in Paraiba state, Brazil. To this end, 25 plots of 20 × 20 m were allocated in each area (A and B), and all individuals with circumference at soil level ≥ 10 cm and height ≥ 1 m were sampled. Area A: 2.226 individuals of 21 species, 21 genera and 11 families. Area B: 1.930 individuals of 17 species, 16 genera and 9 families. The Shannon-Wienner index and Pielou equability values were 1.92 nats/ind. and 0.63 (area A), and 1.76 nats/ind. and 0.62 (area B), respectively. The Sorensen’s similarity index between the areas was 79%. Poincianella pyramidalis, Mimosa tenuiflora, Aspidosperma pyrifolium, Croton blanchetianus, and Combretum leprosum were the richest species found in both areas. The floristic and structural parameters measured in both areas showed differences between them, most likely because of the different levels of anthropic intervention, which were larger in the B area.
