EL ENSAYO Y LA INVESTIGACIÓN EN HUMANIDADES

Como una manera de contribuir a un debate que me parece necesario, quiero referirme al tema del reconocimiento del ensayo y de la investigacion en el campo de las humanidades y, en directa relacion con este reconocimiento, a los criterios prevalentes en la evaluacion curricular en el ambito academico chileno, tal como ella se ha instalado en las universidades y en las instituciones que distribuyen fondos publicos para la investigacion.

Elisabeth de Schönau: autoridad visionaria y la presencia de los santos

In this essay I would like to explore the visionary writings of Elisabeth of Schonau (1129-1164) and to show how her work on Saint Ursulas martyrdom in Cologne, the Liber revelationum Elisabeth de sacro exercitu virginum Coloniensium (The book of Revelations on the sacred army of Cologne), written after 1156 and very widely read among her contemporaries, can illustrate some uses of visionary authority in the context of the cult of the saints and their relics.

Ver, conocer, imaginar: La visión de la Fuente y las tres Doncellas en el “Liber Divinorum Operum” de Hildegard de Bingen

This article develops some of the themes related to the Vision and the senses using as example the visionary texts of the third part of the “Liber divinorum operum” (LDO, III,3) of Hildegard von Bingen, the German nun who lived between 1093 ane 1179: The “senses” must be understood here, in the first place, as the vision (external and internal in accordance with the augustinian tradition) and the audition; in the second place, as the search for a “sense” as an activity oriented towards knowledge, as for example the hermeneutic activity implicit in the reading and in the interpretation of a given texts or of an image. In this context, we propose that the writing and the iconographic illustration of her works were taken by Hildegard and by her contemporaries as a searching process for sense through the Vision: seeing, knowing (writing) and imagining. This process leads to the discovery of a “sense” for the visible word and: in the last resort, may lead to the contemplation of the supernatural realities through the exercise of the “corporal” and “spiritual” senses. Una pluma en la mano de Dios: una imagen en tres cartas de Hildegard de Bingen (1098-1179)

Este estudio explora los contextos y los posibles sentidos de una imagen que se repite en el epistolario y en uno de los escritos visionarios de Hildegard de Bingen (1098-1179). Iniciandose en las cartas escritas a varios de sus corresponsales desde el ano 1148 y hasta el ano 1175, y en una de las visiones del Scivias (completado en 1151), la auto-representacion de Hildegard como una pluma llevada por el viento o una pluma en las manos de un Rey parece coherente con su vocacion profetica y con su creencia en que la mayoria de sus escritos fueron inspirados por Dios. En las cartas mas tempranas, la imagen de la pluma esta inserta en un cuento, y el proposito de este estudio es buscar los posibles origenes del cuento y de la auto-representacion de la escritora como una pluma en la mano del Rey divino.
