ABSTRACT Objective: to perform the translation and cultural adaptation of the document named Marco Regional de Competencias Esenciales en Salud Pública para los Recursos Humanos en Salud de la Región de las Américas (Regional Framework of Core Competencies in Public Health for Health Human Resources in the Region of Americas) from Spanish to Brazilian Portuguese. Method: a methodological study comprising the following phases: authorization for translation; initial translation; synthesis of translations and consensus; back-translation and formation of an expert committee. Result: in the translation of domain names, there was no difference in 66.7% (N = 4); in the translation of domain description and competencies there were divergences in 100% of them (N = 6, N = 56). A consensus of more than 80% was obtained in the translation and improvement in the expert committee by the change of words and expressions for approximation of meanings to the Brazilian context. Conclusion: the translated and adapted document has the potential of application in research, and use in the practice of collective/public health care in Brazil.

UNLABELLED Knowledge management imposes itself as a pressing need for the organizations of several sectors of the economy, including healthcare. OBJECTIVE to evaluate the perception of healthcare institution collaborators in relation to knowledge management in the institution where they operate and analyze the existence of differences in this perception, based on the institutions management model. METHOD a study conducted in a sample consisting of 671 collaborators from 10 Portuguese healthcare institutions with different models of management. In order to assess the knowledge management perception, we used a score designed from and based on items from the scores available in the literature. RESULTS the perception of moderate knowledge management on the healthcare institutions and the statistically significant differences in knowledge management perception were evidenced in each management model. Danelia Gómez-Torres; Maria Dolores Martinez; Fábio José Madeira Alves; Maria Manuela Frederico Ferreira

Theoretical Framework: Phenomenon of study: Authority exercised by nurses is based in the referential of symbolic interactionism, giving meaning to their subjectivity. Objectives: To analyse how nurse managers apply authority in conflict resolution and its meaning. Methodology: Qualitative, descriptive research conducted in Portuguese health institutions. Thirteen nursing leaders of the highest management level participated in the study. Interviews were conducted. Then, the information was selected through the colorimetric technique to associate contents and confirm categories. The systematic and interpretative analysis was used to determine the symbolism of authority and conflict resolution. Results: The nurse manager has specific skills and characteristics in the affective dimension and capacity to help during conflict management. Authority acquires a humanised meaning to be applied with impartiality, justice and equality, taking into account the health needs of the citizen. Conclusion: The humanised intervention of the manager projects a strategy posture before the conflict, showing the integrating components: Nurse, process, institution and society.Theoretical framework: Phenomenon of study: Authority exercised by nurses is based in the referential of symbolic interactionism, giving meaning to their sub...
