La investigacion se realiza con una muestra de empresas espanolas, encuestadas por el Instituto Nacional de Estadistica (INE), durante los anos 2008-2010.Innovation is related to the growth of economies and companies, and in a changing environment, like the present, it is introduced as a fundamental means for competitive advantage. This study aims at analyzing the relation between the companies’ capacity for innovation and obtaining the same information by means of cooperation with competitors, suppliers, universities and public institutions (Triple Helix). First, we developed a literature review on related concepts and, then, by using the structural equation method, we elaborated a model to respond to and accept the hypothesis proposed, which highlights the relation between the innovative performance of companies and the information obtained from the Triple Helix. The survey was conducted with a sample of Spanish companies researched by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) from 2008 to 2010.

The findings of the factor analysis reflects the existence of four key factors (Push&Pull effect; what we are like; education domino effect; and knowledge employment) which should be taken into account for managing governmental strategies within the European market. According to these factors, four clusters of countries have been identified focusing the case of the first cluster, comprised of Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Austria, which has been called ‘knowledge countries’. Analyzing a Knowledge Country

María Obeso; María Jesús Luengo-Valderrey

In a scenario where knowledge is considered an essential tool for firms and organizations, the paper presented an analysis about how Sweden, considered as a knowledge country, manages its innovation process. First, the paper presents the measures that Sweden government are doing, exposing the essential points in its innovation strategy. Then, the behaviour of Swedish enterprises related to innovation is analysed. Using an ANOVA technique, the paper shows that there are not differences between Swedish regions managing innovation, but there are differences between industries. After that, a comparison between industries in order to analyse which are the differences has been realized. Results show that machinery and retail industries are the most innovative, and fabricated metal industry is considered the least innovative. Although there are differences between industries, results show that in general Swedish enterprises are innovative because only a 9 per cent of enterprises have not realized something related to innovation process.

Managing Knowledge in Enterprises

María Obeso; María Jesús Luengo-Valderrey

Knowledge management is an essential key in order to obtain competitive advantages in organizations. In this scenario, an interesting study about the first global power, China, is presented. The paper analyzes how Chinese enterprises manage their knowledge using variables linked to knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. Data were extracted by World Bank between December 2011 and February 2013, and the analysis has two parts. First the percentage of innovative enterprises within China is identified and then, a descriptive analysis about the situation of Chinese innovative firms is realized. In addition ANOVA technique is used. Results show that almost the half of Chinese enterprises (around 47 per cent) is considered as innovative, and these innovative firms make decisions focused on active measures related to knowledge management. Then they realize an active used of new technologies in order to communicate with people related to the organization (sharing knowledge) and also to develop new ideas within the organization (creation knowledge). Chinese Government could use our paper in order to know how their enterprises manage their knowledge and, accordingly, they could motivate non-innovative enterprises to incorporate actively knowledge management process.
