La riqualificazione delle periferie romane nel nuovo prg e nelle politiche comunali. Strumenti e realizzazioni

Maria Rita Gisotti

The upgrading of roman suburbs in the new prg and in municipal policies. Instruments and achievements. n nThe redevelopment of urban outskirts is a central aspect of the new city planning scheme adopted in Rome. This scheme features a multipolar, polycentric model, defined by: the network of open spaces; the network of rail transportation; a system of new hubs placed in disadvantaged areas of the city. The local administration promotes this effort through several tools: the creation of new public space; the development of the natural and architectural heritage of these areas; the promotion of citizen participation to the design and implementation of the projects involved.

Waterway Landscape Protection: transformation opportunities

Maria Rita Gisotti; Fabio Lucchesi

Pursuant to the Code on Cultural Heritage and Landscape, waterways and 150-metre-wide riparian zones are identified as landscape assets even when they do not possess particularly significant characteristics. In these situations, rather than acting in a solely restrictive manner, based on a form of negative regulation, it seems a good idea to work to implement landscape redevelopment and regeneration processes. The Code offers regions this possibility within the framework of landscape plans which can pinpoint those protected river areas eligible for simplified procedures to foster their recovery. Having approved the landscape plan in 2015, Regione Toscana is engaged in this process and has commissioned the University of Florence to carry out research to identify these areas and the criteria for their redevelopment. This essay presents the outcome of the research, concluded in September 2016 with the creation of an Atlas of these areas which can be taken as a starting point and an initial outline of planning criteria for interaction with local institutions in implementing redevelopment policies.

Forma urbana e progetto di paesaggio: esperienze di pianificazione nella regione parigina

Maria Rita Gisotti

The definition of both the limits and the overall shape of the city is paramount in contemporary urban planning. Designing landscape and open spaces may become a key instrument to reorganize formally the urban organism and to requalify it aesthetically and environmentally. Model experiences in this regard are those of the Ilede- France region, which recently approved the new “Schema directeur” for the Paris metropolitan area.

Vinci: il sistema dei luoghi e dei valori

Maria Rita Gisotti; Simone Spellucci

The Vinci municipal territory lies between the course of the Arno and the Montalbano. It consists of a densely urbanized, flat area; a transitional, mainly agricultural area; and a hilly and highland area of remarkable landscape value. Projects developed in the workshop have confronted the reestablishment of territorial constitutive relationships in the North-South direction, on both urban and territorial scales.

La città raccontata : descrizioni di Torino oltre l'urbanistica

Maria Rita Gisotti

Literature gives very often visions of the city that are usually typical of common sense and of collective imagination. So, if we look at literature we can sometimes better understand those territories unexplored or not enough explored by scientific research. In the case of Turin, we can find two texts showing two different interpretations of the city, concerned with different places and aesthetics, suggesting an interesting analogy between the city structure and the narrative text: on the one hand we have the Giuseppe Culicchia description of Turin, where we see a compact, cohesive urban texture, with all elements held together by the public places system; on the other hand we have the Dario Voltolini view, depicting a city made up of fragments whose global result is an actual urban sprawl.
