Supply chain risk classification: discussion and proposal

Djalma Araújo Rangel; Taiane Kamel de Oliveira; Maria Silene Alexandre Leite

The supply chain management philosophy has often been used by organisations to achieve a competitive advantage, but it increases the vulnerability of these supply chains (SC) to certain risks. This dialogue between competitive advantage and risk generation has increased the number of studies related to the topic of ‘supply chain risk management’. Aiming to contribute to this field of research, a literature survey was conducted on 16 risk classifications, which included 56 risk types. These risk types were sorted according to existing conceptual similarities and then related to the five management processes intrinsic in a functional SC (plan, source, make, deliver and return), which are mainly advocated by the supply chain operations reference model. This literature review also highlights the lack of consensus among the surveyed authors concerning the risk types that affect a SC, a gap which this paper seeks to close by proposing a supply chain risk classification.

Modelo analítico de suporte à configuração e integração da cadeia de suprimentos

Josenildo Brito de Oliveira; Maria Silene Alexandre Leite

The objective of this article is to propose an analytical model of support to the configuration and integration of the supply chain as the basis for the development and/or improvement of SCM projects. The methodological aspects were based on a review of the literature on issues related to supply chain management and value chains. The nature of the research used in this article is basic since it produced a theoretical instrument without practical application. A conceptual structure was built supported by an exploratory and descriptive literature review providing the foundation for the development of the proposed model. The approach of this article is qualitative. The theoretical results obtained represent the proposition of an analytical model developed to properly set up the supply chain integrating various perspectives for a better contextualization of the interactions between the links and members of arrangement. Thus, this article proposes a tool to assist in the development or improvement of projects for supply chain management.O objetivo deste artigo e propor um modelo analitico de suporte a configuracao e integracao da cadeia de suprimentos como base ao desenvolvimento e/ou melhoria de projetos SCM.

Logistics cost management: insights on tools and operations

Tálita Floriano Dos Santos; Anderson Tiago Peixoto Gonçalves; Maria Silene Alexandre Leite

Logistics cost are very important in the composition of company management costs. However, visible unfitness is noticed in traditional costing methods to supply adequate data for right management, making people using specific management tools: total cost of ownership, customer profitability analysis, direct product profitability and activity-based costing. Besides, over the years it was presented an incomplete view about the composition of total logistics cost. So, this articles proposal is to introduce some classifications which enable listing each of the main elements that are part of logistics cost; to discuss the use of tools that can make management easier, identifying, measuring and evincing them, considering also the existing countertrading among elements in total logistics cost determination, called trade-offs. This study is theoretical/conceptual, basic, qualitative, descriptive and bibliographic, which aimed to analyse, in periodical articles collected in relevant fonts of research, necessary and important concepts for discussion about the central topic.
