Microprogrammable peripheral controller

Richard T. Flynn; Marion G. Porter

Abstract One of the most talked about microprocessor applications in the computer peripheral industry is device control. This paper presents a microsequencer-based general-purpose microprogrammable peripheral controller. This controller enables efficient and easy coupling between a wide range of I/O buses and peripherals. As an example, design details are given for interfacing a card reader onto an IBM standard I/O bus.
