Electronic passports with AMOLED displays

— The development of high-security ID systems calls for never-ending technical and economic innovation. As long as documents and items of high material or immaterial value continue to exist, there will always be attempts to copy or manipulate them. A revolutionary product concept for new ID systems with novel functionality and applications is described and the worlds first ePassport containing a thin, bendable active-matrix light-emitting-diode (AMOLED) display without an internal battery is presented.

Document fraud poses a huge security risk, not only for individual users but also for society at large [1]. In this paper, we describe a revolutionary product concept for new ID systems with novel functionality and applications.
