This paper presents the Agent Based Learning Objects - OBAA standard proposal. The main goal of the research was to establish a standardized specification of the technical and functional requirements of learning objects that should allow the interoperability of the contents between Web and Digital TV environment, supporting accessibility and pedagogical issues. In this proposal it has been explored the convergence among the multiagent systems, LO and ubiquitous computing technologies, allowing the authoring, storage and recovery of LO in varied contexts and through different digital platforms. The result of this research was the definition of the OBAA proposal containing the requirements, specifications and architectures that will compose the Brazilian standard for the management, transmission, storage, search, editing and use of LO that can be distributed and used in an integrated manner within the Web platforms, mobile devices and Digital TV.

Cecilia Dias Flores; Marta Rosecler Bez; Ana Respício; João Marcelo L. Fonseca

Clinical decision making faces relevant uncertainties, outcomes and trade-offs. It has to deal with diagnosis uncertainties, the choice of diagnostic tests, the selection of prescriptions and procedures, and the treatment follow up, many times facing severe budget limitations and lack of sophisticated equipment. This paper presents a multi-agent learning system for health care practitioners: SimDeCS (Simulation for Decision Making in the Health Care Service). This system relies on simulations of complex clinical cases integrated in a virtual learning environment, and has been developed within a program offering continuous education, training and qualification to professionals in the Brazilian health care service. SimDeCS will be made available on the Internet, thus providing access to professionals working throughout the country. The main contribution is the system architecture and the model knowledge. The learning environment has been designed as a multi-agent system where three intelligent agents are included: Domain Agent, Learner Agent, and Mediator Agent. The knowledge model is implemented by the Domain Agent through probabilistic reasoning, relying on expert human knowledge encoded in Bayesian networks. A clinical case is presented and discussed.

This paper presents a multi-agent learning system for health care practitioners named SimDeCS (Simulation for Decision Making in the Health Care Service). The main contribution of this work is the system architecture, model-learning environment supported by artificial intelligence techniques, and its evaluation as a educational software. The SimDeCS was designed as a multi-agent system, composed by three intelligent agents: Domain Agent, Learning Agent and Mediator Agent. The Domain Agent implements the knowledge model by probabilistic reasoning (Bayesian networks), with the knowledge encoded by human experts. The pedagogical strategies emerge from an influence diagram, based on the students conduct during the simulation. Some results related with the SimDeCs evaluation are presented.

Introduction:Intestinal parasites are among the most frequent diagnoses worldwide. An accurate clinical diagnosis of human parasitic infections depends on laboratory confirmation for specific differentiation of the infectious agent. Objectives:To create technological solutions to help parasitological diagnosis, through construction and use of specific software.Material and method:From the images obtained from the sediment, the software compares the morphometry, area, perimeter and circularity, and uses the information on specific morphological and staining characteristics of parasites and allows the potential identification of parasites.RESULTS:Our results demonstrate satisfactory performance, from a total of 204 images analyzed, 81.86% had the parasite correctly identified by the computer system, and 18.13% could not be identified, due to the large amount of fecal debris in the sample evaluated.Discussion:Currently the techniques used in Parasitology area are predominantly manual, probably being affected by variables, such as attention and experience of the professional. Therefore, the use of computerization in this sector can improve the performance of parasitological analysis. Conclusions:This work contributes to the computerization of healthcare area, and benefits both health professionals and their patients, in addition to provide a more efficient, accurate and secure diagnosis.
