Die weltweite Vernetzung von Computern im Netz der Netze, dem sogenannten Internet, ermoglicht eine neue Form von Mensch-zu-Mensch-Kommunikation, deren Bedeutung standig wachst. Computervermittelte Kommunikation unterliegt besonderen Bedingungen, die sprachliche Besonderheiten nach sich ziehen. Diese sollen unter Beschrankung auf ein im wesentlichen deutschsprachiges Korpus in diesem Beitrag1 beleuchtet werden. Nach einigen Ausgangsuberlegungen bietet Abschnitt 2 eine kurze technische Einfuhrung in die Internet-Kommunikation, die der versierte Nutzer getrost uberschlagen kann.

Gascon et basque: bilinguisme et substrat

On the NE border of the Basque country (SW France) we find a large bilingual area where Basque is in contact with Gascon, its neighboring Romance language. The varieties of Gascon spoken in this area show a great number of so called gasconisms. Most of them can be explained through Basque, but not in a straightforward way: They are not borrowed from Basque, but represent strategies to overcome structural differences between the languages. In fact, Gascon can be seen as a Romance language with Basque substrat interferences. Such interferences come about where languages differ from another, but instead of following the particularities of the substrat language, they often show innovative strategies of the newly acquired language. This, of course, makes it difficult to argue in favor of a substrat hypothesis.
