Fritillaria crassifolia Boiss. & Reut. (Liliaceae) is a variable Asiatic species with a wide distribution from central Turkey eastwards into Iran. Four subspecies are recognised, one of which, F. crassifolia subsp. kurdica (Boiss. & Noe) Rix, is illustrated here. Its taxonomic history, relationships, distribution and cultural requirements are discussed and a full description is provided.
