The RATE Study: The Faculty.

For 3 years, teacher education faculty from 80 institutions have been surveyed by the Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. Results indicate that faculty responding to the questionnaire were predominantly White males, around 50 years old, who were likely to remain in their current positions. Nearly all teacher education faculty had prior experience in the lower schools, and the majority reported ongoing work in schools. Publication rates were comparable to faculty in higher education generally.

Teacher Education Programs in the 1980s: Some Selected Characteristics.

17.000 by class 1 districts prompted examination of economic and demographic characteristics that showed a marked difference between class 1 districts using Chipter 2 funds and those not usine them. It was found that class 1 districts with more positive demographic economic and educational statistics participated in ECIA at a high rate white districts whose economic and educational statistics would indicate a higher need for ECIA funds were in fact less likely to apply for them.
