The authors propose the standardisation of pallet loading planning as the first step to constructing the support system for cargo loading in order to support the management of loading planning and cargo handling in Container Freight Station (CFS), and have developed a pallet loading planning system.

In designing a ship operation system, it is necessary to take account of a number of factors influencing the state of the operation. This paper describes an evaluation of these factors which have been derived from simulations using queuing theory. The structural elements of the simulation model are mainly those of crew (number, ability, line-up), job (hour, occurring interval, type), hardware (reliability, redundancy), port attendance system, etc. On the basis of an 83-days simulation study, a rationalised operation system for a modern containership is proposed.
