Lattice Rotation Due to Cold-Rolling on 1050 Aluminum with Near Rotated Cube Orientations

Microstructures in specimens of 1050 aluminum were observed on the same view field before and after cold-rolling with SEM-EBSD system. Orientation analyses on individual grains showed that poles of 001, 011 and 111 spread toward the rolling direction within 10 to 20 degrees due to cold-rolling. Rotation axes were roughly parallel to the transverse direction for rolling. Activated slip systems in the grains would be simply analyzed with assuming the stress axes were nearby the rolling direction and normal direction. Grains having similar orientation each other showed similar crystal rotation. Moreover, grains having mirror symmetric orientation onto the RD-ND plane symmetrically rotated one another.
