Mosquito larvicidal effectiveness of EcoBio-Block® S : A novel integrated water-purifying concrete block formulation containing insect growth regulator pyriproxyfen

ABSTRACT EcoBio-Block® S, a novel controlled release system (CRS) for the insect growth regulator pyriproxyfen, uses a water-purifying concrete block system (EcoBio-Block) composed of a porous volcanic rock and cement, and it incorporates the aerobic bacterial groups of Bacillus subtilis natto. EcoBio-Block S showed high inhibitory activity against mosquito emergence as well as a water-purifying effect. Chemical analysis and bioassay showed that EcoBio-Block S provides a high-performance CRS that controls the release of pyriproxyfen at low levels according to “zero order kinetics.”

Insecticidal Activity of Pyrethroids Containing a Heterocycle against Musca domestica and Their Structure-Activity Relationship

種々のヘテロ環をアルコール成分に有するピレスロイドを合成し, イエバエに対する殺虫活性を測定した. その結果, 活性は, 導入されるヘテロ環の種類に著しく影響を受けることが明らかとなった. これらピレスロイドの安定コンフォメーションをMNDO法を用いて計算し, 2-ベンジル-4-フリルメチル2,2-ジメチル-3-(2,2-ジクロロビニル) シクロプロパンカルボキシレートを対照分子として立体類似性 (RMS値) を算出した. RMS値および逆相液体クロマトグラフィーを用いて測定したlogk′値は殺虫活性と相関性を示し, ピレスロイドの殺虫活性における立体形状と疎水性の重要性が示唆された.

Synthesis and Insecticidal Activity of Some Compounds Related to Tetramethylcyclopropanecarboxylate

フェンプロパスリンの酸部分である, テトラメチルシクロプロパンカルボン酸の三員環をC-1位とC-2位の間で開裂した型の酸, 四種類を合成した. これらとピレスロイドアルコールとのエステルには, ほとんど殺虫活性が認められなかった. 殺虫活性を有する3-フェノキシベンジル (2a), または5-ベンジル-3-フリルメチル2-イソプロピル-3-メチル-3-ブテノエート (2b) のエステル結合を, エーテルあるいは炭化水素結合に変えた化合物を合成した. これらは, 元のエステルとは違う種類の昆虫に対して殺虫活性を示した. また, エステル2a, 2bのアルコール部分をジメチルベンジルに変換したエステルには, 殺虫活性はほとんど認められなかった.
