The crystal structure of cis-dinitrobis(ethylenediamine) cobalt(III) tetranitro(ethylenediamine) cobaltate(III) monohydrate

Abstract The crystal structure of the title compound has been determined by X-ray methods. The geometry of the complex anion is a slightly distorted octahedron, and the coordinated four nitro groups occupy the cis -positions. The mutual orientation of these nitro groups is considered to be effected mainly by the intramolecular nonbonded repulsions.

The reaction of CoH(N2)(PPh3)3 with diallyl ether in toluene yields [Co(CH2CHCH2OCHCHCH2)-(PPh3)2], which has been shown by a single crystal X-ray study to contain the CH2CHCH2OCHCHCH2 group as a bidentate ligand liked to the cobalt atom via η3- and η2- bonds.

The novel ΛL-cis-β2(mer) type structure of the new, mixed-ligand cobalt(III)–Schiff-base complex (–)435-L-isoleucinato-NN′-ethylenebis-(α-methylsalicylideneaminato)cobalt(III)·1·5H2O has been determined by X-ray analysis; the origin of the thermodynamic stereoselectivity in this complex could be elucidated.
