Ultra-small one-chip color-less multiplexer/demultiplexer using silicon photonic circuit

Using silicon waveguides, an arrayed waveguide grating and switches are integrated into one chip. Low-power and fast-speed reconfigurability of optical paths within a 2-mm device is demonstrated.

Demonstration of multi-degree color/direction-independent waveguide-based transponder-aggregator for flexible optical path networks

We have demonstrated a novel transponder-aggregator that helps achieve multi-degree add/drop color/direction-independent multiplexing in ROADM/OXC. The aggregator employs a c-AWG and a matrix switch with an aggregation-function. We show 8-degree add/drop operations and a less than 1.6-dB powerpenalty resulting from power-crosstalk.

Compact 10 Gb/s transponder with FEC function for Tb/s DWDM system

A size-reduced 10 Gb/s transponder has been developed employing a single-chip out-of-band FEC codec LSI and multi-chip modules. The transponder allows improvement in the bit- error-rate from 1 E-6 after 10 Gb/s/spl times/80 ch transmission with optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) of 18 dB to become error-free.
